His boyfriend's a hottie...
Good for you, Neil!
Perez Hilton is a sleaze. I'm glad Neil finally came out publicly, I'm just sorry it couldn't be on his own terms.
first Lance...then TR...now Neil...I just can't keep up with all the dates.
How the hell is this news he came out in 97 is it possible to do it twice?
I think it is weird he is coming out. why on earth do gay people have to tell the world they are gay? it seems silly.
Maybe when season 2 of Kyle XY begins Matt Dallas can come out of the closet!
just a thought.
"I think it is weird he is coming out. why on earth do gay people have to tell the world they are gay? it seems silly."
Really? You don't understand why it's important for gay people to come out, especially at such a crucial time in the fight for gay rights?

'Who cares?' Self-absorbed, pathetic, and silly beyond belief. I thought gays were the supposed to be the best and the brightest. I guess I was wrong.

The best and the brightest? You obviously are not familiar with Bobby Trendy.
Let's not say congratulations but THANK YOU to Neil.
It's hard to be honest when publicists and agents STILL say that publicly acknowledging your affectional (not sexual) orientation (not preference) will end your career or render you unhireable as a heterosexual character.
Only by performers like Neil doing this--especially with such dignity and integrity---will the situation ever be one of true equality.
Thank you, Neil.
We walked out of the Tony Awards this past June right behind him and the person who we assumed was his boyfriend. They are both very cute in person up close. As we were walking down toward The entrance to the aftr party at the Rink restaurant girls were all over him for his autograph. He was very gracious.
A fantastic actor and a really kind, down to earth guy. I wish him much continued success (and I, too, hope to see him back on stage sometime soon!)
Good for NPH. Doesn't change the fact that his scenes in "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" are hysterical!
Congrats and thank you, NPH!
I think people should stay in the closet.

Seriously, it is nice to know that Neil will now be moved from the "despicable" column to the "not so despicable" column on Steven Stanley's Big Board of Homos.
Does this make it OK that I watched Doogie Howard MD Religiously?

Watching Doogie Howser will make you go blind!
I've seen him in THE PARIS LETTER, LUCK PLUCK AND VIRTUE, RENT, & ALL MY SONS and he seems to get better with every new role. I am a big fan. Kudos and all that! He deserves it!

I was reading another message board *cough* and someone linked to an IMDB thread where "eslgr8" was posting about this. I laughed.

Bravo to Neil Patrick Harris for his statement in People.
But just for the record, a couple points worth noting.
Even though Neil refers to 'those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me,' an apparent reference to Perez Hilton, the thing that kicked all this off was an item at Canada.com on Monday. And had Perez even spoken to Neil, would he have come out to Perez? Neil's done hundreds of interviews, and surely he's been asked about his love life.
According to a thread at IMDB, Neil in the past has made statements that clearly indicate he was straight: 'I'm very turned on by British women. ... I'm very into Kate Winslet now' and 'I'm a hopeless romantic. I think that suddenly she'll appear across the room ... right then I'll know that's it.' Clearly, that was evasive and misleading at the very least.
For those who say, 'Who cares?' when a celebrity comes out, like Lance Bass or T.R. Knight or now Neil Patrick Harris, a lot of people do, or else people wouldn't be in the closet to begin with. PalJoey is right: It isn't easy to be out, especially when agents, publicists, managers, etc., insist it's career suicide, but as time goes by, one can only hope that being gay is treated simply as a fact of life, which it is, not as a whispered secret.

Already knowing he is gay made his performance in "Harold and Kumar..." all the more hysterical.
Just happened to pop in for the first time in months to see what you all would say about this. The absolute idiocy expressed in many of these posts is why I regret even dropping back in. The number of people who don't get why Neil's coming out is important makes me almost doubt that the gay community can continue to move forward. Keep on spouting your "he didn't need to come out" or "he was already out" or "it was his 'private' life" as long as you wish. Babble on! You are wrong. Period.

Fantastic Role Model. All the best to this talented person...
"I think it is weird he is coming out. why on earth do gay people have to tell the world they are gay? it seems silly."
Because people assume everyone to be straight in this world unless told otherwise. And, because apparently he was going to be "outed" unless he did. If he didn't "tell the world," someone else would have.

I'm looking forward to the day when none of this matters.
yeah when i saw he was playing a trumped-up womanizer version of himself in that "Kumar White Castle" flick, the beau and I couldn't help but laugh, as he's such a sassy queen. :-0
