"I've never done something so old-fashioned. My work tends to be a little bit edgier. I really set out to make something that was for everyone, something that parents can watch with their kids," he said."
He also talked a little bit about "Wear Your Crown," the original song written exclusively for the film.
"We wrote a song that was a sad song, but it didn't fit with the tone of the movie. And then we got to the end of the movie, with the end-credit design sequence," he said. " When I saw that, I think we needed an end-credit song that's about the women. It's about the female power in the film. I told the songwriting team and the composer, 'Let's do something upbeat, that we can send people out in a celebratory fashion, and let's have all the women do the vocal tracks. Furthermore, let's have Meryl Streep rap.'"

I'm so excited for Ariana DeBose. This film and her performance as Anita in West Side Story will make her big in Hollywood

I’m not a big fan of how It’s Time To Dance is rearranged. But I keep getting more excited

I think it’s just for the trailer. The first trailer used a version of “Tonight Belongs To You” that doesn’t match the soundtrack version.

I'm seeing an early screening and shall report back.

I love the new trailer! It looks like they're using some of the original Casey Nicholaw choreography.

I hope you are right. Because I love the original instrumental finish in the Broadway cast recording.
Finally, a promotion for this movie that has a good blend of hilarity and heart. This official trailer just got me more excited to see it despite its flaws. Corden and Kidman are big question marks though thus far, and how could they possibly omit "We are liberal Democrats from Broadway!"? However, Pellman and DeBose look adorable together, and Streep delivers her lines with aplomb. Is it 12/11 yet?!

why does every element of this movie look and feel so artificial?

Casey choreographed the movie so I'm sure he used the original choreography.

I said the same thing!! I'm really hoping it's just some weird editing thing they did with the trailer and that is actually in the movie. It's such a great and funny line it would really stick to lose it!

The line is definitely still in there -- you can hear the cut in the trailer, and that's why they don't cut to Rannells' face until "from Broadway." They've also been using the line to promote on Twitter!
Earlier today, someone posted a bootleg of "It's Not About Me" on here, which, of course, has since been deleted, and the line is there. It's "We are liberals from Broadway."

Reviews are pouring in! The soundtrack is released digitally this Friday, I believe, in anticipation for the Dec. 11 film release.
Newsweek says Corden is “offensively miscast” and I’m glad that’s being called out because it’s true.

Oh boy. Here he goes with this crap again. Could you imagine broadway if gay actors and actresses were only allowed to play gay roles?
Yep there I go with that crap again, Hayley.

Ouch, even Cats managed to get a better grade from Entertainment Weekly. The first reviews have been all over the place.
Still, based on 18 reviews thus far, the film has a 78% average on RT. Anything can happen though...

People on here and other sources state that this is in theatres December 11. Yet, it starts this Thursday at my Cinemark. No AMC. Are some chains getting this, a week earlier?

I'd like casting directors to imagine casting someone other than James Corden in musical films adaptations.
Perhaps gay actors and actresses should have the same access and accolades as their straight counterparts when they play straight and gay roles.

The theatrical run at select theaters begins this week, and not every chain will carry it.
