And clearly you missed the first season of American Crime Story: OJ Simpson. Probably the best thing Ryan has done. Maybe the first few seasons of Nip/Tuck too (although that was pre-Glee).
The trailer looks cool and at least everyone looks like they're having fun. This could be a really good, fun musical movie that is highly entertaining, it's about time Ryan Murphy did something much more lighter in comparison to his recent work.
I am okay with having this movie this year and have In The Heights and West Side Story to come out in 2021.

It's the most cringy and bsckwards.
While Murphy's body of work is a decidedly mixed bag, he has absolutely had a great deal of success since Glee, both critically and culturally.
How did Corden manage to get billed above Nicole? I never saw the show. Is his role more of a lead?

Yes, his role is more prominent than Kidman's.
It’s also being released in select theatres so it’ll be campaigning for Academy Awards like previous Netflix films A MARRIAGE STORY and ROMA.
Has a soundtrack been released?

One hasn’t been mentioned nor is available for pre-order. I think it’s safe to assume an original film soundtrack will be released.

He has one line of dialog in the trailer.. I'm sure he'll be fine.
I've been looking forward to this trailer for a while (after only seeing grainy pictures of the cast in costume) and it did not disappoint. It looks like they've captured the fine line this show runs between over the top insanity and the gentle heart it has at its core. I left The Longacre exhilarated when I saw it last summer and with the amount of talent involved here this has the potential to be great.

The trailer looks fun, but I totally agree with the above.
I can imagine no parallel universe in which Beth Leavel would ever have been asked to recreate her role in the movie version of this. The star casting IS the event here - at least for the vast majority of people who will end up watching it on Netflix. I think the trailer looks like a lot of fun, and while sure, someone like Nathan Lane would have been, in my opinion, a more inspired choice than Corden for that role, it's easy to see why Murphy cast this project the way he did. Of course, given her appearance in HOLLYWOOD, a little part of me can't help but imagine if Streep hadn't done this if Murphy might have approached Patti LuPone, who I think, naturally, the character is partly inspired by.

YES! Patti LuPone is my dreamcast Dee Dee Allen!!! She would absolutely kill "The Lady's Improving."

^ 2008 was my first Tony broadcast. I did not expect to enjoy her singing Everything's Coming Up Roses
Ugh now I cannot unsee Patti in this role. I wish she could have put it on film. And she is a Ryan Murphy gal too.

The tone in the trailer was way off for me. Based on what I've read about The Prom and seen from the tv performances, the show's supposed to be kind of a zany musical comedy. This trailer is just so dead serious. This is the guy who did Glee, he can't give us a little camp?
^^^absolutely agreed. I think The Prom is good fun and I enjoyed it on Broadway, but I’d never say it’s revolutionary. This is playing it up like it’s IMPORTANT. And that makes me cringe, because it’s so not important.
It's funny to Google and see... many many articles & interviews of Brooks Ashmankas talking about The Prom and Gay Representation... and yet... here we have James Cordon a straight man who has been failing upwards his entire career in a role a flamboyant gay man. Was no other Singing Gay with a name available?

Who did the Choreography for the movie? I see a bit of Casey's work, but doubt he did it for the film. Maybe an associate?

I'm excited to see Ariana DeBose.
Tried to watch this on Netflix tonight. Turns out It now allegedly opening in theaters in December. Do not really believe it happening and doubt the suits actually believe it will happen than. Will check next month to see when it will be on Netflix

It is scheduled to open on Netflix on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 8pm est. I guess it's gonna be a Hanukah present for all of us who saw in in NY, and want the rest of the world to be able to enjoy it too!
