Good news! On All That Chat, Kieran reports: ''Conrad Ricamora's back in 'Oh, Mary!' A remarkable performance. No signs tonight of his recent rib fracture.''
The role isn't particularly physically demanding- he's not doing all the physical humor that Cole is- so hopefully they'll be able to accommodate any needs for him.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Conrad must have been given some good steroids to be back this quickly.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I hope and pray other artists who take on the role of Mary don’t just give bad Cole impersonations on this. I’m just having flashbacks to all the low rent productions of Die, Mommie, Die! where the lead’s performance just becomes a bad impersonation of Charles Busch down to line readings!

Didn’t win the lottery so figure I would ask"
Not sure if this will help you but after I saw the show two weeks ago, as we exited there was a guy outside the theater with a large basket asking for Playbills from the show.

That would be amazing!

Surprising Cole doesn't want to ride it out for a Tony nomination. Maybe they come back before nominations through Tonys Awards - if JCM is actually coming in.

It's believed that Cole has another project this Winter. JCM would likely just fill-in for 2-3 months and then Cole, if they want to, would return and do the show through the end of June.

The Bowen rumor never seemed likely to me, unless it was for like a very limited two-week or so run during the holidays. Bowen has become one of the big MVPs of SNL, and I cannot imagine how he would do a 8 show week while doing that, and they certainly aren't giving him time off for it.

Does anyone think JCM would sell tickets?
Bowan Yang could."
I don’t think Cole Escola is above the title. I think the hope is for the play itself to be the draw and sell tickets.
Perhaps they’ll wait until after Nov 13th to make any announcement? Hannah Solow (Cole’s understudy) is making first scheduled debut in the title role on 11/11. If she’s a hit then perhaps she can be Mary while Cole is away.

I think it'll definitely be easier & cheaper to get tickets with JCM. The belief is the producers want to keep it open through the Tony Awards. They need a fill-in for a few months until Cole can return in the Spring.

I have heard that Glengarry Glen Ross has booked the Lyceum for the spring, so this may not extend all the way through the remainder of the season. As of this moment, the Lyceum is in fact the only Broadway house without a confirmed tenant for spring 2025, so Announced and rumored productions like Glengarry, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Ragtime, Dead Outlaw and the Motive and the Cue are all probably hovering like hawks to see what folds. It seems likely that the Palace and the Belasco will open up with Tammy Faye and Maybe Happy Ending struggling at the BO. I think there's a very real chance that Swept away and A Wonderful World might not make it past January as well (a little too soon to tell for Swept Away, which just started previews), so Studio 54 and the Longacre may also become available. But Real Estate is getting tight for April, y'all. If Oh Mary announces an extension, that actually upsets the apple cart for at least two or three incoming shows.
Cole is already eligible. His replacement won't be.

Yup the Tony nominators have already seen Cole perform as Mary in the play. Cole may want to come back to the role in May/June so if they are nominated for a Tony, the voters will be able to watch them perform.
