"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I actually saw her last night and I must admit she sounded amazing. But perhaps with the cast recording session on Monday there has been little time to rest?

I'm surprised it's not plastered all over Ticketmaster, or at least it wasn't when I just looked.

Yes.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
It's not a prior commitment. She's out on vocal rest. She has also cancelled her scheduled appearance on Leonard Lopate tomorrow.

Can only imagine the line at the box office is crazy with refunds & exchanges.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Hope she returns soon.

I was at today's matinee. They offered refunds or you were invited to see the show and get another (free) ticket to another performance at which Patty Lupone was performing. House was full.
According to the Box Office she is sick and performed sick last night. You couldn't really tell in my opinion, although in hindsight in one of the restaurant scenes where both leads sit symmetrically I did see Patti cough (only once or twice) while Ebersole had the spotlight.
I wonder if she recorded the album while sick, too..

I really would love to hear how Ms. Migliaccio does too. I have admired her performances for years and she is the co-founder of one of my favorite theatres in the country.

She's been stunning in everything I've seen her in at D.C.'s Signature Theatre. Really quite a talent.

You gotta love Broadway producers that are willing to let the audience stay and fill the house and also let them come back for free.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
