Sometimes (not always)that’s wishful thinking or a way to drum up investors and never transpires. Such as Landau’s other recent musical, Transparent."
It's coming. :)
I should add, this one certainly FEELS more real than some of the other announced-but-never-produced shows, considering Menzel's involvement as the star and a contributing writer.
Prob just waiting for another show to announce a closing

Redwood has a theater that's currently occupied. There's lots of turnover coming.

This would be a nice fit at the Schoenfeld, Broadhurst, or Music Box.
Or the Nederlander.

Occupied but soon to be vacant? Vacant but soon to be occupied then vacant again?

Gun & Powder had also planned on transferring, so adding Ciara Renee into that mix of contenders for Best Actress would make it even more exciting. However, with Audra's Gypsy having passing for white as a theme in the production, combined with the stacked musical lineup next season, I wonder if G & P has decided to hold off till next year, or do another regional run in the meantime.

Do we already know 2026?

Do people here just forget every single thing you know about this industry when new shows get announced or what? Shows without dates and theatres announce *ALL* the time that way? Sunset Blvd as a recent example. And it’s almost always because they’ve been guaranteed a theatre but the current tenant hasn’t announced closing yet, but all parties have the understanding that it will close.
It has to be the Booth right

It’s a clever ad. I’m not ashamed to admit that it worked on me. I went from, “we’ll know when we know” to, “Well, now I need to know.”

I’ve heard the Nederlander.
Oh wow maybe they’re moving it up to the fall? It’s just such a big theatre for a very small musical

totally. I actually double checked my WI-Fi was working as I thought the error was on my end.
I'm not sure the understudy matters. Grosses will fall dramatically if/when Idina is out (See what I did there =0)
Just like Mr Saturday Night a few years ago. Without Billy Crystal there was no show--they literally cancelled including 1 week of performances when billy had a planned absence.

And nearly 30 years after Menzel made her Broadway debut in the same theatre, in Rent.

Oof. THAT makes me feel ancient. Ha. Looking forward to this but also have a slight hesitation/wariness, and I can't put my finger on why. Was word of mouth bad out of town?
I hate how the theatre is gonna stay dark in the fall, why didn’t they get something to open earlier? Is Redwood a limited engagement? Thats a huge theatre to fill, especially for a small musical with only 5 people on stage. I thought this would have been better suited for the Booth, but I’m assuming they already have something lined up for that theatre, maybe operation mincemeat.
Idina back at the Nederlander is really incredible. Can’t wait!
I don't feel like the Nederlander is all that big? I love seeing shows there. I feel like it's the perfect space for a show.
I feel like the Nederlander is pretty huge honestly. Newsies was the most PERFECT show for that space because it was big. The last row of the mezz feels like you are far away. It’s not like the Jacobs or Schoenfeld or Winter garden where even the last row mezz is still a very good seat. They’re wider and the nederlander is more narrow and far back. Like the Lunt, dreadful.

Nederlander is 1200 seats, which is an enviable-sized house for most shows. Bigger than some of the Shubert playhouses mentioned (Booth, Schoenfeld, Jacobs, etc) but much smaller than the big musical houses (Winter Garden, Lunt, Imperial, etc).
Idina's last show was at the Rodgers, which has 1300 seats.
