And apparently she's "respected for her deft comic timing and her powerful, sensuous singing voice" so I think she'll do fine. I didn't go as gaga as everyone else on here for Sherie in the role anyway.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.
Some people. Honestly. Don't say she "can't touch" Sherie in this role. She hasn't even started yet.
This is a good life lesson: Don't formulate an opinion about ANYTHING unless you've experienced it. This can be applied to anything: food, race, someone replacing somone else in a show, etc.
I am not trying to be a bitch or yell at anynne on this, but I think it's real horrible how automatically when someone is said to take over in a lead role, people immediately start saying bad things. Luckily, it hasn't been too bad (yet) and I wanted to say this before it starts.
Sorry if I offended you, but it just bugs me when people say evil things, unless they know first hand.
Here's how I see it...I'm not a huge Rachel York fan, but I don't think the role of Christine is that utterly fantastic as played by Sherie Renee Scott. Sherie's fine, I'm not saying she's bad, but Rachel is an accomplished actress with a hell of a set of pipes. If you ask me the only problem with Rachel playing Christine will be that it won't show off her voice enough.
I actually didn't mean to get on your case at ALL Doogie, I was just using you as an example. Usually people say things that are far worse, and I was just stating a fact of this board.
Its cool! (I love Sherie, but I am also a huge Rachel York fan, so...its interesting casting)
I love Rachel York! perhaps I'll have to try and get up to NY for this

I'm not a huge Sherie or Rachel York fan, and I did enjoy Sherie in the show btu will be very interested to see what Rachel York can bring to the show.

Rachel is amazing....and so is the guy taken over John Lithgow...still...i hated the show so much....that i would never see it again...even with Rachel, who is a brilliant performer.

I think Rachel York is one of the most talented women working today. She can truly "do it all". Don't get me wrong, I adore SRS just as much as the next person and thought she did a wonderful job in DRS, but I think Rachel will bring a new dynamic as she is a totally different personality. I'm not sure if I'll prefer her in it, but I'm excited to see what she'll do with it.

~Stewart Gilligan Griffin
i agree by the sword84, i didn't think sherie took the role into any kind of 'untouchable' realm. In fact, i thought she dumbed down the character quite a bit. i'm really really excited to see someone else in that role. however, i'm a little less willing to let go of lithgow...

I saw her as Mother in Papermill's Ragtime. I thought she was fantastic. I will want to see DRS again now. I love Sherie, but it will interesting to see how Rachel will play Christine. I'm sure she'll be awesome.
