Wasn't David Henry Hwang's FLOWER DRUM SONG book nominated?
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Happy to see Stephanie J. Block nominated- I really loved her performance.
I am very surprised about The Testament of Mary- I would have assumed The Nance would get that slot. And not that I expected it to get a lot of attention, but wow, they did not like Annie, did they?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Honestly, I don't understand the surprise over Jessie Mueller not being nominated. Not because Mueller isn't talented, but because Helena really doesn't seem like that much of a role. Honestly, unless she's chosen as either Datchery or the murderer, there's not much there. She wasn't chosen as either at the two performances I attended, and I can't think of a single thing to distinguish her performance otherwise. (Jana Schneider must have been a magician to win a Drama Desk and get a Tony nomination for the role)

I loved The Testament of Mary. I wish Fiona Shaw had been nominated over Kristine Nielsen. I'm rooting for Cicely Tyson-who really blew me away. She is incredible on that stage. And I'm really happy for Condola Rashad-she was brilliant too. I think Judith Light has a good shot at picking up her second Tony in two years.
Wow so much Kinky, Matilda, Pippin, and Cinderella love.
I am unhappy with the snub of Josh Rhodes for Cinderella, but hey at least Peter Darling and Chet Walker are honered. And Andy is nominated in the RIGHT musical (no Annie for Andy).
I am very happy for Victoria Clark and for Andrea Martin.
LOL Kenneth Posner for three noms for Lighting Design.
Thank god A Christmas Story got some deserved reconition.
Overall I am very happy with these nominations, can't wait for the Tonys come June.
Just out of curiosity, in theory, could the committee have nominated all 5 eligible musicals in the revival category? Or are there strictly 4 spots, and that's it?
I'm very pleased to see Tony love for Hands on a Hardbody and Laura Osnes. Very excited for all the nominees!

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
Four acting nominees also nominated last year: Danny Burstein, Laura Osnes, and Judith Light and Condola Rashad (who are once again competing in the same category).
Oh, yes, you reminded me! So glad for Rashad! She is so incredibly talented and her scenes with Tyson in BOUNTIFUL were just fantastic and so touching.

I saw her in the original ...Drood. Yes, she was. She chewed every piece of scenery possible (including her voting number card - literally). In the context of "the Music Hall" atmosphere, she was outstanding (IMO). I always saw elements of *both* characters she was playing (the fictional actor, and the fictional actor's role). I thought she made a bold and creative choice that worked very well.
She played an oddly eccentric actor cast in an exotic role. 'Ya know how when you watch Tom Cruise in a movie, the tiniest part of your brain can't divorce the picture of him jumping up and down on Oprah's couch? That's the kind of effect Schneider created onstage for Helena Landless.
To use your word, I thought it was "magical".
