* * * * It's a delight with some wonderful performances and some good songs (a couple times I actually get that thing where the melody hits you in a certain giving you an actual physical response). A sweet show about family and community with a dark throughline where most of the characters are illegal during Reagan's raids on Mexican and South American immigrants in the late 1980's. And there are threads of racism as well, so the sunny story of this marvelous teenage girl (terrifically played by Tatianna Cordoba) the only naturally born citizen in her family and the dress-making factory where she works, is also a witness to the constant fear of deportation. However, it's very, very funny. And very much a Woman's musical (of the ten main ensemble members, only two are men). I hope they break legs on their opening tonight!
