Rashidra Scott has been amazing in everything she's done. Congratulations! Hopefully she gets to go on more than Caroline did.
Good for her. Doubt she will ever go on unless it’s another vacation week.

Francis dominates the show. He’s an intense, self-loathing, vulnerable Joe. He makes the guy interesting, when I’ve often found him dull.”
Having seen Mandy, Caroline, and Nicole, I agree with this assessment. I continue to find Tom, Grace, and David to all be unwaveringly strong - I’m sure due, in no small part, to their extensive rehearsal and performance history with this production. And when a less-rehearsed Norma is thrown into the mix, it can throw the show off kilter a bit.
As phenomenal as this production is, much like Ebersole in GREY GARDENS or Erivo in THE COLOR PURPLE, the central performer is key here. Nicole is undeniably transcendent.

Will Nicole be performing at the Trump inauguration?

Yes- she will be performing “Eternal Youth is Worth a Little Suffering”- from the original Sunset- in homage to Trump’s penchant for dying his hair and spray tanning.
No, but Carrie Underwood and Laura Osnes can do “Who Will Love Me As I Am” and then jump into doing “Hot Honey Rag” before Chad Kimball leads the crowd in a rousing rendition of “Tomorrow Belongs To Me”.

Will you even be able to watch? How's the TV reception under your bridge??
For anyone who might have seen the show from multiple locations would you recommend 5-7th row orchestra on the side or front row mezz in the center?
Thank you!

Doesn't get any better than front row center mezzanine. That's where we sat!
It’s very difficult for anyone to step into Nicole’s shoes because the whole concept of the production feels like it subtlety mirrors her own career, she has a once-in-a-million voice and vocal timbre that is highly unusual and brings so much dynamic range to Norma’s songs, AND because Nicole just eludes so much ‘star presence’ or whatever that nebulous X factor concept is. And I say this as someone who really did not care for Nicole at all or know much about her before this performance (I.e. it’s not my bias as a fan, i am just responding to what i am feeling from the stage).
As Audra is saying every night, you either got it or you ain’t and Nicole got it!!!!!
Toni Collette would be an excellent replacement with Lena Hall on Tuesdays. One can dream

I thought Caroline did an incredible job. It's a shame she did not get to go on a few more times.

After having seen SUNSET and GYPSY ... I think that this show is going to run away with BEST REVIVAL, DIRECTION, LEADING ACTRESS, LEADING ACTOR & LIGHTING DESIGN. Truly astonishing. Nicole is unequivocally perfect.
I loved Audra too ... but I feel the awards season is going to favor SUNSET in a major way.
In an insane twist of fate I managed to win the lotto for Sunset on Sunday with Mandy AND Hadestown for tomorrow's matinee.

Playing Norma Desmond In ‘Sunset Boulevard’ Brings Mandy Gonzalez Home At Last

I saw it last night with Mandy and I liked some of it! Act 2 was much better than the first because I felt it actually used the gimmick more consistently which was fun. Performances are great obviously, but if you're gonna do a production where Norma is basically a Gothic vampire then why not just make a production where she's a literal Gothic vampire. I don't know if it was intentional, but in the final shot she literally looked like a wild animal or cryptid you caught with a flashlight in the woods. Complete with glowing eyes.
Nicole will perform from the show on Stephen Colbert this Monday.
I was looking to see what deals were out there to see Sunset on Thurs Feb 6. SeatGeek has Nicole as performing and TodayTix has her as not performing. I am assuming Seat Geek would be the correct info.
