What is the reason for NDAs? What is the need for such secrecy? Agents, managers and the people who work in their offices still gossip. Wouldn't it leak out?

I'm assuming there's some big names involved if they're using NDAs.
This show has been highly anticipated for years now. With Sondheim’s death, it’s only gotten more people interested. Of course there’s an NDA, regardless of casting.

September is certainly looking unrealistic but it could push back to later in the same season, no?
The time between the Parade transfer announcement (and tickets on sale) was only slightly over a month. There’s definitely still time left for them to announce cast and tickets. Although I am a bit worried too because I’m very excited for this show.

As you say, Parade was a transfer. It existed. It was cast, designed, orchestrated etc. It's various elements needed only to be adapted to the new space, if at all. Here We Are has a longer road to travel to get to that point.

You’re right, that was mostly me trying to convince myself nothing is wrong. Hopefully we will find out in the next week or two.
Since so much of this has been and continues to be hush-hush, I don't think there's a reason to think a lot of work isn't already happening. The end of September still seems pretty possible.
As with most Sondheim things nowadays, I adopt a mindset that it isn't going to happen so that I can be thrilled when it does instead of disappointed if it doesn't. It also helps keep me from obsessing checking The Shed site for info.

I don't want to be mean, but that seems rather premature. Even supposing it does happen in the original time frame, I'd expect tickets to be EXTREMELY competitive and being able to get them exactly when you want them might be a challenge.
FWIW even though I am also highly dubious about the timeline given that it’s already into July the shed’s calendar online was recently updated and shows this as specifically September 10-December 30.
If I recall, FOLLIES (2011) went on sale just 6 weeks before the opening on Broadway and had no issues with short-term sales in that large theatre. Although same case as Parade I guess in the sense that it was a transfer. I'm really hoping we just get a Big Bang announcement within 2 weeks with the full cast announcement + tickets on sale.

It's interesting you feel this way - in the case of Sondheim my default assumption is that it will happen because over the last 15 years or so it's been the most incredible time to be a fan (not just in NYC but elsewhere). For example, between the recent Company revival in New York and London, Sunday in the Park with Jake, Bernadette in Follies, Staunton in Follies (London), Geoffrey Rush in Funny Thing (Australia), Into the Woods (Terry Gilliam UK but I guess the Broadway revival though I didn't see it), two revivals of West Side Story in NYC, Sondheim on Sondheim, CZJ/Lansbury and Bernadette/Stritch in Night Music, the Sondheim birthday concert at NYphil that was filmed, Encores! Whistle, Sweeney at NYPhil, Off-broadway and now Broadway etc. it's really hard to be greedy and wish for more. My dreams have already come true time and time again.
Could anyone ever imagine we'd have a revival of Merrily on Broadway with Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff? It just keeps on giving!
I just need Bernadette to replace Ashford in Sweeney, even for a one-night only special concert, and I think I am ready to just die really.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
But what timeframe are you talking about then? Because between Sweeney, into the woods, company, merrily etc it feels like everything is happening right now.

I was referencing shows yet to occur for which there is/was some uncertainty, not transfers or currently running productions for which there was never doubt about them happening.
