Wow...the Canadians are rocking the tour. Between Kyle and Stefi D. this is gonna get some great press in Toronto. I like both their work as individual performers (as well as the show in general) so I am gonna be sure to catch it here in Toronto. My only worry is the venue which is WAY too huge and I fear it will swallow this show right up.
Akiva, has the documentary about his "journey" to Broadway aired yet in Canada? The people making it were at his debut, filming audience "reviews" as they left the theater during his first week of performances. I'm curious if this has aired yet, or if they'll air it when the tour kicks off.
Kyle is the lead vocalist in a bad, am I right? So there is no excuse why his singing shouldn't be good. However, singers aren't always top actors right away. Case in point: Christina Aguilera. We'll have to see what a month or so with the show does for him.
oohshizz146- I say just mass produce him. That way everyone can feel the Matt Doyle goodness all the time.

I want to apologize for some offensive messages posted on this board under my name. The night 0f 12-15-08 I did not have internet access, and someone had used my name to post something offensive. My avatar was also changed. I dont' know what else was posted, or if anyone recieved bad PMs, but I want to apologize for that. I've changed my password, and even though I was not the one posting these messages it still needed to be corrected.
I saw the show for the first time this past week...TWICE! I knew nothing about it, just that Duncan did the music and was intrigued, and had NO expectations or pre-conceived ideas about the cast.
Kyle and Blake absolutely blew my effing socks off! Being 44 years old that is saying something. LOL! I couldn't stop thinking about the show and decided I had to see it again before I left NY.
Now I see that Kyle is in the tour (CUE JOY AND RAPTURE) and that Blake is likely to be there as well (!!!!!)...I'm so beyond excited that I'm already figuring out to get to the cities it will be in that are remotely close to me. I live in Chicago and was floored that we are being skipped over, so that leaves Des Moines, IA and Lansing, MI (Des Moines and Lansing--WTF??) but I'll also fly to Los Angeles and see it again with my sister for my 45th birthday in November.
This should prove that the show is not just for the young...it's also for the young at heart, who DO remember the pain and confusion of adolescence.

They showed pieces of it on a Canadian news channel that did a piece about how he's a Canadian kid who made it to Broadway (a bit of Kyle talking, a bit of the audience after the show, and some shots of the show itself). Don't know about any full-length documentary, though. Then again, I don't watch much tv so it's possible I just missed it. i just happened to walk into the room when my mom had the news on.
I am extremely excited about Stefi D! When I saw her on the cast list, I knew I recognized her name. So, I googled her and sure enough, I knew who she was! I saw that clip of her auditioning for Canadian Idol a while back singing "Nothing is Too Wonderful to be True" and I fell in love with her voice. She will rock as Ilse. So excited!
I hope that it eventually adds in a chicago stint not this coming season (as its already booked and we have no theatres) but for the year after. Nothing will be sitting down besides jersey boys and that leaves two theatres open after july of 2009.

Theaterboy, when does Wicked leave Chicago? I know the run is finally and officially ending so maybe they'll bring in SA to replace it. Perhaps next season's B-Way in Chicago? At this point, I am willing to travel to other cities to see it again but I sure would like to know what brain-trust put the midwest schedule together. Helloooo? Des Moines Cleveland, and Lansing in February/March?? Do they not know the cold and snow and ice we're buried under then? I will probably have to take Amtrak to get there because I won't dare drive it. :?
Where did the news come from that Kyle Riabko is on the tour? I haved looked at Playbill.com and the official SA website and see nothing confirming the cast selections? Are we 100% positive Kyles on board?
Wicked leaves Chicago in January, then the physical production of that show will become the new second national tour that launches in March.
I think SA would get lost in the Ford Center in Chicago. Actually, I think this will a problem when it plays a lot of the "barn houses" tours generally play. It will be interesting to see how it's received on the road.
