I am interested in how Stephanie Powers is as Norma
Me too, I even want to go to Maine for this!
I'm hoping some type of (strictly archival, mind you) er, documentation will surface at some point.

the oguinquit playhouse website usually puts clips on
once the show opens
The original Broadway costumes totally don't work with the color pallete of that set (which looks like it came via The Suessical...)
I love Christina DeCicco! Wish I could see this as well...
We saw the preview last night; the show is obviously stripped down from the Broadway production, and Michael Bennett is correct; the costumes are fabulous, but they often clash with and overwhelm the sets ( the costumes are the originals, I believe). The show could use some pruning, but considering the cast had only 2 1/2 days in the theater, they have done a wonderful job. There are a few problems to be worked ou, mostly with the projections.
I had never heard Powers sing, and her voice was a revelation. She does well with her two big numbers, and her acting is spot-on: she avoids most of the campiness to get at the pathos of the character.
She stacks up well (yes, really) with Betty Buckley, whom I saw in the original NY production. All in all, a good production of a flawed but fascinating show, the only Lloyd Webber I have ever enjoyed.
BTW: Todd Gearhart (new to me) is quite sexy, sings well, and is quite good as Joe; ditto Sal Mistratta as Max...great voice.

Thx for the review. I spent 8 summers in OGT and really miss
it!!
Just an FYI,
The Arvada Center in Arvada, CO will be doing Sunset Blvd. in Sept starring Anne Crumb and Kevin Earley. (Yours truly will play the tour de force role of Hog Eye)
Did they rent the mansion set from a different show? It's difficult to see, but I feel like I've seen it before.
Oh wow! Christina is playing Betty Schaeffer right?
With all these regional productions of SUNSET, I think some smart producer should realize this show needs a Broadway revival ASAP!
The same goes for Aspects of Love, and maybe in a few years...Bombay Dreams! =) (Just kidding, but I would love for it to happen, of course) it might do well, after the success of Slumdog Millionaire. Who knows?
The pictures are truly wonderful, it seems like Stephanie might be the perfect Norma based on the reviews and the pictures.
You should come on up and see the show!
Bryan: This is my fifth summer, and I love it! All the folks from the shows hang out in town and work out at the gym, so it's easy to get to talk with them. Most are quite friendly.

One more point: Powers is 68, and looks no more than 50; her body is in great shape, and her face looks real, not completely distorted by surgery. This is the way to age!
I agree, you couldn't ask for a more gorgeous Norma. I met her a few months ago and she's a true beauty.
Stephanie was on Kathy Griffin's D-list last year and she looked amazing. Remember the story of when Maggie Griffin approached Stephanie Powers before Kathy was famous and asked her for advice for her daughter and Stephanie said, "never turn down a job." Kathy has lived by that motto and it was great to see Kathy and Maggie meet up with Stephanie all those years later. She was teaching Maggie yoga. :)
Nice pictures of Ste f anie Powers. However, I'd also love to see how she looks like in her "AIWNSG" dress. from RC in Austin, Texas
Stefanie with an F, people. Please! Do you KNOW how upset the diva gets when her name is spelled with a PH?
From all reports, she is electrifying the town of Ogunquit...with one look.
She looks beautiful: the dress is tight and black, and she has the body for it; I'll try to find a pic.
Pal J: She is...the buzz is great! I think folks did not expect so much from her.
