Thanka for the heads up! I had a ticket for the Fisher Center, but ended up not going, and I appreciate that I'm only paying slightly more for a cheap seat at the Armory, one of my favorite performance spaces.

As someone from Illinois, I’m taking the “e” very personally. I feel attacked.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Playing Drama Queen does not become you. I did some research.
Divya Srinivasan created the album artwork,[12] depicting a variety of Illinois-related themes, including Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, the Sears Tower, and Black Hawk. The album cover reads, "Sufjan Stevens Invites You To: Come On Feel the Illinoise!" as a wordplay on the common mispronunciation of the state's name as "ill-i-NOYZ" and a reference to the Slade song "Cum On Feel the Noize" made famous in the United States by the metal band Quiet Riot.
I saw this tonight and highly, highly recommend. This will be a really cool show to see at the Armory in NYC as well. I'm not a huge dance show person, but this was really gorgeous and moving and i loved the orchestrations and the singers were unique and fantastic. The story is interesting and it all just flies by. It's the full album start to finish. I haven't listen to this in years and was just stunned by how gorgeous the lyrics and stuff are. Really recommend. This will be a giant hit for Chicago Shakes. So happy for them.
Not sure I could see this having a commercial life as I'm not sure how well known the album is and dance theater in general. But I could see it touring like the current Message in a Bottle.
Caught the first preview last night and loved it. I found it to be very inventive and moving. I'm not typically someone with a lot of interest in dance, but it definitely kept me engaged and I thought the story was pretty easy to follow. It also probably helps a lot that "Illinois" is one of my favorite albums of all time. I know every note of that album so well from having listened to it so much, and seeing a live band perform it in its entirety was also just a really cool experience on its own. But there were also a few older people next to me that had never even heard of Sufjan Stevens before and they loved the piece as well, so I don't think it's a requirement to know the music ahead of time. The album also spans so many different genres and moods that there's probably something for everybody, musically speaking. The story is divided into 3 acts in the program, but there's no intermission as it runs just about 90 minutes total.
Also, side note, I had never been to the Park Avenue Armory before last night, but that place is pretty amazing. It's like part gothic mansion, part airplane hanger.
I saw this last night and thought it was incredible. I'm a huge fan of the album, so I was curious how they would weave together a narrative, but I really thought it worked.
Everything was exceptional - the dancers, the choreography, the band, and the singers. I also thought the use of the minimal set was clever. I was moved to tears at quite a few parts of the show, and I could tell others around me were as well.
I selfishly hope this extends so I can see it again, but I strongly encourage others to grab a ticket if/when you can. This one is special.
I had hoped to catch this during its extension the last week of March. However the two-day extension sold out quickly. Any thoughts if they will extend further? Fingers crossed.
They have done a digital rush in the past on todaytix, but it doesn’t seem they have one for this. I’ve seen four shows here, all from being papered. This is selling really well, I hope I can see it. They have a standby line, no clue how much the tickets are.
Sadly, they don't. I emailed the box office the other day. They said no lottery or rush. Only cancellation line, but would be full price. So bummed. I really want to see this but there's no way I can afford it.
So glad people are loving this. Thought it was very beautiful last summer and I wish it a successful run. I wonder where it goes, if it goes somewhere else, after, or if this is its final stop.
