I gotta say, I enjoyed this show when I saw the first preview, but as the weeks have ticked by, my admiration for it has only grown. Best of success to them and I can't wait for the cast recording!
The Band's Visit was OK. I hope it's not the best new thing we see before the Tony's.

Agreed. Since seeing it last week, and thinking it was great but nothing super special (except for Katrina Lenk's superb performance) I have been thinking about this show non stop. It is always on my mind....for a good reason.
Saw it last week and it still runs through my mind. Really enjoyed it and hope it has a healthy life on Broadway.
I saw it a couple weeks into previews and was incredibly moved, and like AdoAnnie, my admiration for it has only grown the more I've thought about it. Hoping for great reviews and a healthy run!
The show has only gotten better since it was downtown and lord knows those reviews were glowing. I predict some of the highest praise we have seen in a while, all across the board. (All deserved, I may add!)
The first review is in, and Matt Windman gives it a rave...

Brantley's rave is simply gorgeous writing. One of my favorite reviews of his, and I haven't even seen the show yet (going next week).
Very happy by these reviews and I am expecting this to have a Come From Away box office affect. I am BEYOND thrilled that Katrina Lenk is finally getting the recognition she deserves!!!!
I've been excited about this show for a while....and these reviews are pushing that excitement so much further! Already holding tickets for spring with my students, but I doubt I'll be able to wait!
Wow havnt seen raves like this since (your favorite show here) aside from who ever that is on NJ.Com these reviews and a bunch of crazy good pull quotes makes The Bands Visit the show to beat this year. Well deserved. Good to see the transfer was successful. A very special memorable touching piece of theater.

The guy on NJ.com, Chris Kelly, appears to me to be somewhat of a fraud. First, he has virtually no background in theater and it's hard to know what qualifies him to be a theater critic in the first place. But second, and far worse, is that he reviews certain shows where he knows reviews will be good to great based on off Broadway runs and then tries to set himself apart by panning them. He did exactly the same thing for DEH, even saying "let me be a dissenting opinion ".
Well, they guy's from Jersey so.......... just sayin.

Does anyone know when tickets go on sale for the block post-April?

Actually, I think he's from Texas. Seriously. After being fired from a paper in Ft. Worth in 2012, this is what he said:
Friends and colleagues:
I’m writing to let you know that, after nearly twelve years, my time at the Star-Telegram is coming to an end. I am being let go as part of the latest round of layoffs that began in 2008, and that have reduced the newspaper (like so many other regional dailies across the country) to a shell of what it once was… I will still be writing regularly for Texas Monthly, where I’ve been a writer-at-large since 2006, and for the Texas-edition of the New York Times — so please keep those pitches and screening invites and other good stuff coming. My only real regret is that I leave behind a handful of treasured friends and co-workers, who are fighting harder than anyone realizes to move the ball forward, even as their legs keep getting cut out from under them.
Too bad he ended up in this area.
