THE GREAT GATSBY Opening Night Critics’ Reviews

Question for my matinee people - what time were you on the street after a 2pm matinee? I’m seeing the show today at 2 and my train from Moynihan leave at 5:10 (5:17 on Saturdays and that 7 min really makes a difference). If it’s too close, I’ll sell on the theatr app and try for something slightly shorter.

Chilina Kennedy will join the company as a t/r for Myrtle, starting July 15, until Chase returns to the cast.

She’s so wonderful in everything I’ve seen her in, especially recently in A Sign of the Times.  Last on Broadway in another Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen musical, Paradise Square.

Yes, it's a really awful situation at any time of life, but especially when it should be a major career moment.

Eva was swapped out for Traci Elaine Lee in the middle of the first act at today’s matinee. I seem to recall reading about that happening once before. Hope she’s ok.

Sara Chase returned to the show last night, following a full fallopian tube cancer recovery.

Sending her all the love!

Only person I can think of replacing him is Aaron Tveit.

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

Yes, that's the end of their week, it would be highly unusual for anything else to occur.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

This frees him up for Floyd Collins.

He won’t move his family to London.

I wonder if this will impact sales - I went to it knowing many of the show's weaknesses but love the music and wanted to hear the recording LIVE.  Though Tveit would get me back, fast!

I'm not that familiar with McCartan. Is he a draw? (I don't mean as big of a draw as Jordan, who clearly has been part of Gatsby's success. Is McCartan someone with a fan base?)

I think he will be a draw for many people.
