By coincidence I have seen every revival nominee but none of the New Musicals.
From the numbers tonight the one I enjoyed the most was shockingly Two Strangers. Easy to understand and great voices. Next was Schmigadoon. Also easy to understand and vivacious choreography. Titanic seems fun but the singing was lacking. The Lost Boys to be honest looked better in the little clip before the performance. I’m still scratching my head with the performance, I didn’t understand what that family has to do with the vampire band and why the vampires looked like regular people? Maybe I need to read the synopsis before going in.

I had to look her up- she's the wife of Stephen Schwartzman, CEO of Blackstone. That's broadway - where even the wife of a billionaire has someone take a chance on her! We can all dream.

That seems wrong).
Only six minutes over. Bring back PINK next year."
That woman is Christine Schwarzman whose husband is the CEO of Blackstone. They are somewhat controversial for their support of Trump, or at least he is.

I'm disgusted. Honestly, if the big check is all that it takes for Tony voters to fold and pick the mediocre ****e like Schmigadoon, then maybe Broadway deserves to collapse. I suppose people will keep paying when A list celebs are cast in acclaimed play revivals, but the new Broadway musical is dead. What a damn shame."
Actually, next year will have Paddington,Benjamin Button, and maybe Mexodus so the Broadway musical isn't dead. You're just having a tween tantrum because you have no taste."
I'm in my 40s and have a very good taste. When votes are clearly bought, it should make any Broadway fan angry. Enjoy your AI slop musical.

It was a great telecast considering how bad the new musicals were.
Pink can host whenever she wants. She was fabulous and clearly loves Broadway –– and it didn't feel like she was making the evening about herself, unlike when K*vin Sp*cey hosted as part of his Emmy campaign for House of Cards.
I thought Titanique, Two Strangers, and Rocky Horror did not come across well on TV.
I wish Oedipus and Cats got some more love.
Please, please let next season be better for musicals.

Truly disturbing to watch the wife of one of Trumps biggest supporters accept best musical the same night that Scott Rudin wins for best revival
everything is lip service, no one cares about anything but money and awards

Groff and Rannells must have the best skin care regimen as they are aging quite fine.

I am guessing by your many posts that you hate “Schmigadoon!”? Please explain to me like an adult how exactly you buy votes for a Tony Award? How much does it cost? I am really looking forward to getting one for a friend’s birthday.

This was absolutely not an inferior version. The original production had all kinds of vivid ideas that were, however, not carried out in any coherent manner. That production was a distraction to the sublime material. This revival struck gold by getting out of the way.

I don’t understand the confusion over The Lost Boys? I know it’s a show with issues, but the performance was good, and easy to understand.
Of all the shows I feel Schmigadoon and The Lost Boys sold tickets tonight.

I will make this short and sweet. I loved Pink and was surprised how well she did in the Chicago number. It says something about the musicals this year when Book of Mormon was my favorite number. I love Caissie Levy (met her in Disneyworld) and glad she won tonight.

...Huh? I would argue this was at least the 9th tossup year of this century.
- 2024 - Suffs (which won both writing awards) vs Outsiders
- 2022 - Strange Loop vs Six (split the writings) vs MJ (which had a better night than expected and won the most awards for a new musical)
- 2017 - Dear Evan Hansen vs Come From Away (going into the night until DEH started sweeping)
- 2013 - Kinky Boots vs Matilda (though by the time Billy Porter won a lot of us had an inkling of which way it woyld go)
- 2006 - Jersey Boys vs Drowsy Chaperone
- 2005 - Spamalot (won 3) vs Piazza (Piazza won 6) with Spelling Bee also winning two major awards
- 2004 - Avenue Q vs Wicked (famously)
- 2002 - Millie vs Urinetown

My fellow thespians and theatre lovers, raise your glass to a phenomenal performance from one of the more exciting Tony hosts we’ve had in recent years.
Alecia -
You got the party started from the very first downbeat. Just like fire, you lit up this Midtown funhouse, and just like a pill, you helped alleviate what was a lackluster Broadway season, especially in the musical department. It felt like true love, and we could almost feel the glitter in the air.
Who knew you had this in you? We certainly didn’t, but your looks, charisma, charm, and powerful voice made our big night one for the books. Try to understand how much this means to all of us, especially your daughter.
There were a few sound and technical issues with the telecast that were beyond your control… so what? You were able to swim right through them like a seasoned pro. There you go!
This was a top notch job for a first-time host, and though that may be all we know so far, please don’t leave us. Hopefully when the Tonys switch platforms next year, we really hope we haven’t blown you one last kiss. Just give us a reason you want to return and we’ll be fully on board.
You painted the town P!nk, and you were — back then as now — f**kin’ perfect. Party hard all night and don’t stay sober for long!

Surprised they did not use the original logo, if something screams Broadway is the ACL original poster. That is iconic. Whoever decided on those ugly, vulgar letters should be fired.

I’m almost positive that’s the logo used from the recent Curve Leicester revival in the UK.

I honestly was expecting something a bit more exciting. She sang the song well but it would have been nice to have seen a bigger production number. JMO

Oddly they used the logo for the recent UK non-replica touring production.

Some other pleasant surprises throughout the night that caught my eye:
- Seeing the whole opening number after hearing the demo was mind-blowing. Kudos Megan Thee Stallion for spitting a Broadway season-adjacent verse in her Zidler attire.
- The Neil Patrick Harris PADDINGTON teaser. All but assures its arrival on Broadway sometime next season, if not its exact timeframe or house just yet.
- Willow looked absolutely gorgeous tonight. I look forward to following her throughout her career.
- Michael James Scott, though, had the princess track of the night. How gracious that the Tony telecast let hm run through the BOM mud hut just to shout, "I have maggots in my scrotum!"
- Not only did Nathan Lane accept the best revival of a play award for SALESMAN, I didn't see a trace of Rudin in sight, at least not on that stage. Good.
- The guitar player during Leslie Odom Jr.'s "Without You" was sneaky good, and I'm almost ashamed to say I was watching him for a lot of those few minutes.
- The beauty in silence — I could feel the room hold its collective breath specifically when the New Rochelle elite, Negroes, and immigrants collided in the middle of the RAGTIME performance, as well as when Michael is first smitten with Star during THE LOST BOYS.
- Speaking of THE LOST BOYS, Ali ending with "Thank you Radio City!" was a nice touch. (Live, it's "Thank you Santa Carla!" ) His featured actor win was the shocker of the night.
- The orchestra greeting Billy Crystal with a selection from MR. SATURDAY NIGHT. Don't get me started...!
- We've got a first preview date for Crystal's new solo show 860 - P!nk revealed it's October 1.
