Posted: 6/9/13 at 10:51pmI was also a little surprised at Kinky winning for choreography. I just don't remember that much outside that number and a couple of bits in The Land of Lola and the finale. I guess the treadmills clinched it.

Posted: 6/9/13 at 10:51pmI don't know if Pippin is the next Chicago, I give it about 3 years personally, then the next great revival will come in and it'll be gone. Sad but true point of the industry.

Posted: 6/9/13 at 10:52pmKINKY won choreography because it didn't entail dancers doing splits and cartwheels 2 seconds into the number. Mitchell knew how to build the numbers in the great tradition of Bennett and Fosse.

Posted: 6/9/13 at 10:53pmPippin will last a couple of years, but I think it lacks the iconic imagery and music of Chicago.

Posted: 6/9/13 at 10:54pmI think casting replacements for PIPPIN will prove difficult. Or not? I'm not a circus expert.

Yay Pippin!!!
Also, side note: what is with Royal Caribbean? So many annoying commercials and awkward product tie ins with their backstage correspondent. Was one year not enough for them to annoy everyone at the Tonys??

I liked Mitchell's work on KINKY. And I like his work in general. But this comparison is quite a bit of a stretch.
