Wow, I'm so proud of my mom after hearing how bad it was! She got tickets since i was at work, and by 10:24 she sent a text that she got them. (!!!!) Considering how nervous she was because she doesn't know how to get tickets online, she did good!
eta: oh dang, 10:24 was when she forwarded the confirmation to me, the text when she said she got em was at 10:15. Dang, she must have had the most perfect timing ever when she loaded the page at 10
I clicked around 2pm out of curiosity and was about 110K in front of me. Madness! I know God should be busy with many other more important things but I may have to send out a tiny prayer for when LA tickets get released to the public.
I knew I was going to be in an all-day meeting so last night I "trained" my mom over the phone on how to buy tickets only to find out that everything we went over didn't happen - we obviously didn't plan for there to be a numbered queue, I taught her how to select seats from the map (no map for the pre-sale). Ultimately, she was able to get 2 orchestra tickets for closing night so I'm happy.
My goal was 1 ticket for opening, 2 for closing, and 3 for another night. My mom was trying to get opening and closing and my friend was trying for the group of 3. Everyone had copies of my cc info. I was actually able to get to a computer at 9:50 and ended up as 31615 in the queue. Mom was around 6000 and friend was around 21000. Mom was the only one to get it, so I'll try again next Monday to get my remaining allotment of tickets.
My brother, who had never even heard of the show until I told him about it on Saturday was able to get two tickets for a random matinee in June. One other friend was in the 8000s and got her six (2 for one show, 4 for another) but I don't know anyone else that got in. I knew of at least 10 other people trying - including my principal who let me step away from the meeting to go online.
My friend who had 13000's que number got in but only could buy Mezz tickets for June weekday. Also if you don't have an account with SHN, you want to make it before next Monday.

They're people who added another person to their relationship (14 years, married for eight). Yes, it's SF and no big deal. Some of the triads I've known are amongst the longest lasting relationships and one or two were the dramatic last act of a breakup. Some are into leather, most are bears and there's a drag nun or two in there. Y'know - People.
But single, coupled, or otherwise attached, most of my friends like Broadway! ...and big deal or not, modern life can create complications like buying that third ticket for Broadway-loving friends.
So curious why the aren't doing a Hamilton sit-down here. They must have known what the demand was going to be like. And as phenomenal as most people think, the show will not live forever. Why not plop down here for a year or two or however long demand holds out. People want to see the show, not the actors (the cast hasn't been announced yet) so it would be a cheaper show to produce than with stars with names.
Happily we got our season tix last March and could avoid this clusterf**k today.
- SHN sold as much of the house as they could for subscribers. Seats were limited to those with equvalents between their two houses (Orpheum 2203, Golden Gate 2297) and excluding obstructed view, pit seats and house seats. They sold the full four weeks of subscriptions (the minimum engagement for subscription tours).
- For Hamilton (4+ months engagement) they split the subscription base to assign them to alternate weeks to open up extra seats and spread the subscriber seats over the first two months of the run. Week 1 subscribers got either week 2 or 3 dates, week 2 subscribers got week 4 or 5 dates... (The preview first week likely had no subscribers).
- Therefore, for weeks 2-9, something less than 50% of the tickets were presold to subscribers.
- A few weeks ago subscribers were allowed to purchase tickets at list prices, no fees, for as many tickets as they have subscriptions. Presumably, most subscribers purchased their other tickets (mostly two) for guests on the same night as their performance. So - most member purchases are concentrated mid-March to mid-May with a lot of availability in June-July.
- Presumably, by that point, they've sold out the equivalent of two months of tickets in a 4.5 month engagement. The great majority would be concentrated at the start of the run.
- Today was Amex pre-sale. It seems that no more than 10% of seats are designated for Amex in most shows I've seen (and usually good, but not the best seats). Anecdotal reports from today seem to fit this. There were no loge, mezz, or balcony seats sold, I believe. The damage from bots and people buying the max six tickets was limited by the size of the Amex block. (and the irritation dealing with the delays of the system gasping under the volume)
Also - for those who missed it, it appears that for today's Amex presale, the queueing software randomized the sequence for those in queue when it opened. So it would increase your odds by having multiple browsers on multiple devices, but it doesn't pay to join the queue extra-early.
Soooo - Come next Monday, my guesses are that there may be 10-20% availability until mid-May, but much more afterward (likely only 20-30% pre-sold to date). More likely to find great seats in the mezz than orchestra for the early months.
And yesterday the SF Chronicle reported that after the Amex sale over 2,000 tickets have popped up on Stubhub already, with some asking $2,500 for a ticket. So it looks like, just as in NYC, there will be plenty of inventory available--for anyone who can afford to shell out big bucks!
Yes. I checked my date (Thurs, mid-April) and saw rear balcony for $1000+ up to a pair in center orchestra (row H) for $2750 ea. About 25 tickets were available. It somewhat assuaged the pain of spending $500 for the premium pair in row G, I was able to get yesterday.
Of course not all of the inventory has been released yet.
Hi, I'm on the SHN website now. I have 2 orchestra tickets with my membership and 2 additional balcony tickets. It looks like the website is allowing me to buy more tickets. I just added 2 more to my shopping cart. I thought subscribers are only allowed to buy up to same number of tickets in their membership. Haven't I used up my allotment? Does anyone know if they'll cancel this latest transaction if I get two more? Thanks!
I seem to recall that you'll be stopped at checkout. I was checking to see available seats last week - after getting my member tickets a while ago - and I was able to put them in my basket, but was stopped thereafter.
I confirmed with SHN that the six ticket max policy applies to any extra tickets you purchased "other than your subscription ticket(s)." So if you have two seats in your subscription, you are allowed to buy two extra during member sale prior to the pre-sale/general sale. Then during the presale/general sale, you can purchase up to four tickets (2+4=6) per household.

If by this you mean no Mezz were sold in the pre-sale, I can tell you that's not true, because those are the seats we snagged.
notalwaysontime - Glad you got your seats. Merely passing on info that was reported by other posters. By the way, I was referring to the Amex pre-sale block, not the extra member tickets.
lite2shine - Thanks for clarifying that. Early on, they mentioned an 8 ticket max (like NY). When I saw 6 tickets max, I had thought they had changed the limit - including for subscribers. Personally, I've covered my needs. I'll let those other 2 seats go to those who haven't seen it yet - and who may get a chance to see it at non-resale prices (if they beat the bots).
Like what MarkBearSF said, I was restricted by the SHN website from buying additional tickets above my allotment of 2 at the very last step (submit order).
Contrary to what lite2shine's SHN rep, my rep who I spoke with this morning told me that additional tickets 3, 4, 5 and 6 can only be purchased by members starting Dec. 12 when tix go on sale to the public.

I was in the virtual queue until it sold out. I was #4000 when it happened."
Hi, members were able to get extra seats for Hamilton as of Nov. 15 but only up to the number in their subscription. I was happy to be able to buy tix for friends.

I said the same thing. I used an example of a subscriber having two seats in the subscription. "So if you have two seats in your subscription, you are allowed to buy two extra during member sale prior to the pre-sale/general sale. Then during the presale/general sale, you can purchase up to four tickets (2+4=6) per household. "
So the 4 tickets I mentioned above are purchased during Amex presale or general sale. Since you talk to the rep this morning, the Amex presale is already over, so a member has to wait until next Monday.

I'm not happy that the subscribers could only choose to buy the tickets in the subscription period (until 5/21) during member purchasing period. There are many great seats available for June/July/August during Amex Presale. But what sucks is that since we can't talk to the rep on the phone, I need to exchange my subscription ticket, I had to request it online and wait until they notify me. I had to provide up to three dates so you never know which date I'll be assigned either.

THANKS, kdogg! This thread was pretty tame. Thankfully most of the time I can keep perspective and before getting too hot and bothered am able to remind myself, it's just a chat board for Broadway queens (of all genders and ages). Just because one person on the internet misinterprets another person on the internet, it's no big deal and is usually not about me at all.
