I rushed this morning (a very cold Saturday and obviously a two show day) and got there about 9:45. There were maybe 40-50 people ahead of me? Hard to tell exactly but quite a few. By the time I got to the window all they had left for matinee was SRO.
Just to offer a few words of warning, I don't know about other theaters but the ledge to lean on here is quite high, especially out towards the side because the floor has a slope. I did ok but it would have been much more comfortable if it was a few inches lower. And I'm fairly tall. The lady next to me was probably not much more than 5 feet and basically could only peek over the wall.
Also, I was third from the end on house right and there was a lot of noise from people talking in the lobby or something? It was pretty distracting. I dont think it was road noise because it was quite loud but I could be wrong. Either way, in a play with a lot of quiet moments it was annoying.
The pro of SRO is that the view is great! I would still much rather have that than the balcony seats they apparently offer for rush.
Update 1/13: I was the 30th in line today at 12pm — by the 25th person they announced all Rush/SR tickets were gone...
I do know that several of the 29 people in front of me did purchase tickets solely for furchase performances and not today’s matinee as I heard it discussed.

I second this warning! I am a little over 5’1” and I got lucky and was given SRO in the centre section (spots 104/105). But when we walked in, I went to the side sections and couldn’t even see over the ledge. I’m not sure what I would have done if my ticket had been for there (stood on a booster seat???). If you are short and have a choice, ask for the centre as the ledge is lower there, even though I was still at a level where I basically rested my chin on the ledge.
The view was amazing though, and I was worried about standing for so long at a play, but the time flew by. As a bonus, Aaron Sorkin stood beside me most of the time, and also went and sat on the stairs right behind me for some of the play. I then got to speak to him after the show and he signed my playbill. Lovely man who told me to call him Aaron when I called him Mr. Sorkin.
I stopped by really late last Tuesday and they didn't have any rush left which I wasn't surprised about, but I was able to buy LincTix tickets for $32 each for June. I wasn't in a rush to see the show so I was perfectly fine with LincTix. I'd say that's the best way to go for the show.
Woke up late by accident on Saturday 1/12 and got there around 9:35/9:40. Had to have been around the 30th person in line. Knew it probably wouldn't work, but stayed anyways, and was able to get SRO tickets behind center orchestra. Haven't felt that lucky since I got a cancellation ticket to Hamilton. Absolutely phenomenal show, and a fantastic view. thanks to everyone who provided info to the thread!
This board has been super helpful! Ill be in NYC soon and plan to try my luck in the rush/SR line. Two questions for everyone: 1. What time do they start selling rush tickets each day? Does it depend on the performance time? 2. On two show days, do they sell rush tix for both shows at the same time? In other words, do your chances for tix increase on a Saturday because you could potentially get rush seats for the matinee or the evening show? Thanks in advance!!

The box office opens at 10am. I did a two show day. Got there around 8am and was 13th in line. They sell both shows at 10am. Since I already had tickets to a matinee, I chose the PM show. Most people in front of me also chose evening, but that’s just luck of the draw. You may have better choice of seats/spots if you can go to either show.
I rushed today, Sunday 1/20. I got to the box office at 10:10am (I thought the box office opened at noon on sundays but i was mistaken). Still, I overheard they still had a few single rush tickets for the matinee performance along with SRO. I was lucky enough to get 2 SRO tickets for the evening performance. They had two more Rush seats left for the evening but they weren't together and were located in separate box seats opposite sides of the theater. $39 each.

I would have expected the Box Office to open at noon as well. What time does it actually open on Sundays?
I also rushed yesterday 1/20. Since it was a 2-show day for them with a matinee at 1, they opened their box office at 10am. (I saw the hours on the telecharge website.) We showed up around 8:30 and was 11th in line. We were looking for tickets for the matinee and got a choice between the balcony rush seats and SRO. We got SRO and they were perfect!
I have upcoming LincTix for this show that I bought months ago and didnt realize I was going to be out of town then. I know theyre pretty strict on their no refund or exchange policy so I guess Im going to end up losing out but I still want to see the show- I guess rush would be my only option or buying full priced tickets?
You could technically get a refund by selling them to another LincTix member and switching the name/number on the ticket. I believe thats how it works.

Have you checked with the theatre to see if the past date tickets?

Long shot, but any chance that ticket is for tomorrow's matinee (2/2)? I'm a LincTix member looking for one seat if you're able to switch the name
I arrived at the theater at around 9:55 AM last Saturday, the line was probably to the end of the theater (not sure how many people... over 30 maybe?) By the time I got there, they had Standing Room for Matinee and a single partial view ticket. It seems like they also had standing room for the night show. People were passing on the standing room which is how I was able to get two. Success!
My two friends and I went to the box office around 5:45 pm last Wednesday (2/6) and managed to get 3 SRO for the show that night. They weren't together, but we got one center, and one on each end. Just beware if you're short, it's about 5 ft high at spot 24 (right orchestra end), which they didn't tell us at the box office, but I was able to switch with my friend who has an inch or two on me and was wearing heels (I'm only 5'1" who had the center spot. (Then the guy next to her who was taller switched with her) Overall though, it was a great experience!
I got in line a little after 8 this morning. There were around 15 people in front of me. I think I got the last of the SRO for the evening show, but they were still selling Mez- I think it’s caught on that those seats are terrible. The line was wrapping all the way around the block by the time we were let in.
Does anyone know if they let you choose between SRO and the far house left/right seats? I'm visiting in March and would love to see the show, but I just can't afford the premium priced tickets. Reading through this thread it seems that the SRO tickets are the better option for the sake of sightlines.

Yes, they do let you select among whatever type of seat is still available. I did SRO and agree that it’s the way to go (I’m short so not having a tall person in front of me is great).
Hopefully going to be in the city next week and would really like to try Rush/SRO for this. Just to recap, what time would be best to arrive in order to guarantee a ticket? Also, which side house Left or Right provides the better view, as I recall people noting of the issue with the piano obstructing the view for a lot of the action? Last, also in recapping, the 29.00 tickets are not the best way to go as the view is also quite obstructed? And the next price level is 50.00, with SRO around the 35.00 price range? Apologies for all the mass of questions just wanted to make sure I am fully prepared when I arrive! :)
Does the fact that Saturday has two shows make it more likely I might score two rush orchestra seats, or does Friday tend to be better because the demand is less? I can probably only stand in line for one or the other. I'm under 5' so standing room won't work. (March 22 or 23) Thanks!
