"
I thought this too!! I feel like Lea is trying to sneak back onto Broadway to have "her great comeback." I doubt she'd ever be Jenna in Waitress. No way.

Hoping and praying Jessie Mueller ends the Waitress run. I'm seeing the show in late December!
Wasn't crazy about Shoshana's Jenna. I thought her voice was very impressive but she didn't have the humor and charm necessary for the role.

to each their own, of course, but i went to see Shoshana for the vocal gymnastics, and while I got what I came for (her voice got more ragged towards the end of her run, but the first month or two it was simply outstanding), her actual portrayal (the humor and the tears and the total commitment to the role) was a revelation. i had previously thought of her as a vocalist who acted a few times, and this turned me around on her.
granted, my only point of live comparison was Betsy Wolfe who did nothing for me, but i thought Sho was brilliant.
all academic because i cant fathom they'd bring in anyone else other than McPhee, Mueller or some ticket-selling NAME to close this one out.
I like the idea of an older actress -- someone in their 40s, like Bareilles and Bean -- in the role. I think the story takes on some added weight if Jenna isn't so young. I'd also love to see a bit more diversity among the replacements than the show currently has.

It was confirmed this morning in the casting notice that Charity Angél Dawson is returning to Mrs. Doubtfire. Any rumors about who's replacing her as Becky (and when)?

what’s with the snark? Geez. Unless you actually work in casting on a show, anything could happen. Yes it is far fetched and unlikely that she would ever play Jenna but easy on the snark. Goodness.

Calm down, Lea Michele. Jeez."
Lol when has telling someone to calm down ever worked out in a good way. Please don’t say that."
Seriously. Calm down."
Seriously hush. It’s obnoxious when people tell others to calm down."
I’d rather be obnoxious than spineless.

Saw the matinee Saturday - was absolutely in love with it all over again! - and Charity was out. If they need a replacement, Anastacia McCleskey went on for her and was fantastic, they don't need to look further.

At this point, I feel pretty confident that it will just be the understudies taking over each of these roles. We’re so close to October 17th that if they had a big name coming in they would’ve announced it already. Seems very likely it will be Stephanie Torns as Jenna, Anastasia McCleskey as Becky, Molly Jobe as Dawn and Tyrone Davis Jr as Ogie.
October 17th is 4 weeks away, so they have plenty of time, and, during the original run, I remember them waiting until closer to the replacement dates to announce.

Then you get to be obnoxious while I care about others besides myself and don’t use an anonymous board to say hurtful things to people :) So I’m perfectly content with who I am.
Much like I believe Covid fears in the end kept "name stars" from opening Chicago, I don't expect more than a "Broadway name" to replace Sara. Much like the current Waitress cast is a collection of previous performers in the show, the upcoming Jennas will be ones we've seen before, and they'll be ones that are local.

Honestly would love to hear Ruthie sing the songs from Waitress if not perform the role... And because she's also mentioned DEH in that interview, I could absolutely see her as either of the moms - she'd be fab!

I wonder if there is the possibility that Kimiko Glenn will return?
Tyrone Davis Jr. would be a fantastic Ogie replacement. I saw him go on a couple years ago and he brought the house down.

Looks like they're getting ready to announce their new Jenna!
Assuming this is a puzzle, her initials are O. N. and she's from Georgia?

I’m stumped. No idea.

I don’t think the O N means anything. The board always has those letter looking like that, it’s just part of the set!

Could very well be Jennifer Nettles. Her middle name is Odessa and she is from Georgia.
Edited: the "Gimme Some Sugar Spice Pie" refers to both Sugarland and her 2016 song "Sugar" ("Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme some of that sugar / Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme something sweet / They want my sugar and spice and everything nice / And they're begging for a taste of my cherry pie". Also, the "Fantastic Franberry Pie" is a nod to lead producers Fran and Barry Weissler, who also stunt cast Nettles in their Chicago.
Buy tickets now folks - don't miss her!

I’m beginning to think everyone saying Jennifer Nettles is right. Even though I don’t believe the O and N are significant to the casting (they have other letters like that as well) the clues people have put together and the hints industry people have given us are making me believe this is true.

It very well could end up being Jennifer Nettles (she’s my top guess as well), but the pie names don’t mean anything. Those are the standard pie names that are always up on the board as a part of the set (including the O and the N), as can be seen in this Instagram:
