Well... kinda/sorta.
ABC has chosen to air the last 3 episodes of the now-canceled PUSHING DAISIES. The episodes will air at 10pm ET/CT beginning this coming Saturday night: May 30, 2009.
Nice to see that ABC TV chose to do this as most shows just get pulled off the air immediately once they are canceled, leaving any non-aired episodes in limbo until the DVD of that final season is released.
Legally they HAD to air the episodes, I have heard.
it sucks that something so good is gone while there are still so many crappy shows left on tv.
HUZZAH!!!
This thread got my hopes up. And I knew better...
Yes!
And the second season will be released on DVD on July 21st
:sigh: This was such a good show.
Legally they HAD to??? Please explain. As long as they pay all involved for their work, the actual tape is the property of the studio. (Or so I understood.)
ABC will also be airing the final episodes of Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money. I thought Eli Stone was a quality show and remain ever hopeful that someone will pick it up.
ABC confirms 'Pushing Daisies,' 'Eli Stone,' 'Dirty Sexy Money' summer burnoff
According to this article, the story will continue in a 12-issue comic book series by DC Comics.

Eris, your link did not work for me. I will look forward to the final episodes of Dirty Sexy Money. That was one of my favorites. A shame how that show just fell apart.

But... what about the final eps for Samantha Who??
ABC just loves to kill my favorite shows, it seems.
This is SOOO exciting
and makes me sooo soo happy!
This is possibly one of the most brilliant shows ever created, and by far it was one of the Top 5 Best on TV at it's time. They should have never cancelled it.

To be honest, I never "got" this show. I mean, it was kinda funny, and it's always a treat to see Cheno and Ellen Greene get work, but I wouldn't call it genius.
Hmm...the link works for me. Strange.
Anyway, this is the only information you truly need from the article:
"The three shows -- "Pushing Daisies," "Eli Stone" and "Dirty Sexy Money" -- will air Saturday nights at 10 in a sort of burnoff theater spot. The last three episodes of "Daisies" will air starting May 30, followed by the four remaining "Eli Stones" beginning June 20 and the final four "Dirty Sexy Money" episodes on July 18."

Piragua, I kind of agree with you. I enjoyed it at first, and was intrigued by the concept, but the fact that they felt the need to explain the whole situation EVERY SINGLE EPISODE got extremely annoying. I get doing it for the first month or so of each season because of new viewers, but really? Every single episode? THAT got tiring after a while.

I think the first season was brilliant--the second season was just okay.
I agree that the recaps got really annoying.
Now if someone will just explain what this has to do with Broadway theatre.
(Don't tell me the cast has done theatre. Almost ALL actors have worked in the theatre at one time or another.)
Oh no, the lines between the Broadway and Off-Topic boards are blurring. This is anarchy!
They CREATED the off topic board so that people who had a genuine interest in the theatre wouldn't have to filter through topics like this.
There's a place for this and the main board is NOT it.
well, I had read that "legally" they had to air the final episodes on www.pushing-daisies.com...but now none of the links work so I can't show you. Like I said, I heard this...I don't know if that's TRUE. but it does seem suspicious that they would drop something and play the final episodes many months later if they didn't HAVE to. ya know?
So looking forward to the final episodes!

Unfortunately, since the BWW press releases serve as the most egregious examples of this (Susan Boyle info warrants a press release because, what, she happens to sing a Les Miz song?! Adam Lambert because, huh?, he'd been on stage?!), it's hard to make a firm line between BW and off-topic.

Like I said, Samantha Who's final eps don't appear to be airing, so I don't think it's a legal issue.
This was actually announced way back when the show was first pulled off the air along with ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY. The plan was always to air the last two episodes of each show during Summer Saturdays. Nothing new here.
The first season was pretty brilliant TV, the second unfortunately didn't work as wonderfully. Really, the initial mistake came from whoever decided not to go back into production after the WGA strike ended. Once the show finally returned, the show was no longer the same, people had lost interest, and the writing wasn't as sharp as it was in Season 1. Having said that, it's still a pity that the show didn't get a chance to get back in shape, I thought it featured some of the most spectacular cast of actors, particularly its female cast was out of the world (the chemistry between Anna Friel and Kristin Chenoweth was fantastic).
Samantha Who? will finish its second season by airing the 7 remaining episodes starting June 5 on Friday nights in the 9-10PM block, along with Motherhood.
And no, there is no legal requirement to air anything. It's simply more cost effective - they've already paid to produce the episodes, might as well try and make back something by way of advertising revenue.
