I don't get this talk about Rachel and L5Y, if she wants to, she can do it.
Isn't it kinda of a concert show? She's only playing a week.
Also, she's done Evita and aside from the balcony, she could certainly not need to be in every rehearsal if it's the same production.
If they get to open at the last day of the eligibility time, they could work this schedule, as crazy as it could possibly be.

Mentioning again that Rachel is doing the The Last Five Years in London in March at a time she would need to be in NYC rehearsing to do Evita if it was coming in next April.
Unless they can find a teleporter to get her back and forth between London and NYC while shes rehearsing then performing The Last Five Years i dont see how Evita comes in this season."
I guess it depends if her contract for Last Five Years is get-out-able. Its only a very short run, compared to the opportunity Evita would provide"
an opportunity that would still be available next season.

If the L5Y thing were happening longer into a run, it likely wouldn't be a problem- Zegler would take the two weeks off. But the scheduling for this would require her absence during rehearsals, tech, or early in performance, which is much harder to manage. Zegler missing half of previews, for instance, would kill sales from the jump and then require additional rehearsal time to get her back into it.

Evita is not this season. Y’all need to accept that and move on with your lives.

This was one of my first musical awakenings, but would be the point of this? It would likely not win the best revival Tony nor would it likely turn a profit…

Oh definitely. And im not saying she will do Evita this year. I dont know and dont overly care. But my point is that her doing a very short run in London doesnt automatically mean Evita couldn't happen. Actors have got out of one production for a bigger one before.

only reason for this to transfer to Broadway would be for a potential tour right after its short run. and the St. James is simply too big, even if the balcony gets closed off. Bat Boy needs a theater like The Booth or the Golden.

Bat Boy didn’t even sell overly well at City Center. Why on earth would it transfer?

Seems to be between BatBoy (ATG execs produced it- great reviews), Galileo (Jordan Roth producing) What's New Pussycat (internally popular) or Titanique (Producers trying to move it to Broadway)

Bat Boy transfer died internally a few days ago. Unsure why folks are still kicking it around like the capital was raised..

Honestly, as much as I don’t like the idea of it, I think the St. James and Majestic are going to be sitting empty this Spring.
With the post-COVID subsidy for shows now expired and the ballooned costs of many shows, these large theatres may be empty for a while. I actually spoke to someone at QOV who was also working on Purple Rain and was informed that, as it currently stands, PR is DOA for the spring (it did have the Majestic) since the reviews were terrible and it needs retooling.
It makes me wonder if theatre owners are looking into ways to reconfigure their theatres to accommodate smaller productions. I know the St. James is able to close their balcony.

They can certainly reduce seating capacity, but it can’t change the actual size of the stage and house, which is the real impediment to more intimately-sized or smaller scale productions.

We might see some celebrities doing solo stints on Broadway to fill theaters for a few months.

Galileo has a capitalization of $20 million according to their SEC filing. Did anyone see it out of town at Berkeley or their subsequent NY presentation?

I am curious did you see all four of the shows you just **** all over? I usually find you to be a reasonable voice on here.

Popped over to the "Purple Rain Broadway" website and it seems to be stripped down. I only went a few times but now there is no mention of it going to Broadway (Outside of the sites address name). The site now just has a home page with dates of the world premiere, a button for "updates on the future of the show", a list of creatives and a merch page. No cast list. It seems there was a bit more on the site. But again, I only visited it a few times a while ago.

If Bat Boy were to still transfer and that is a BIG if, it is 100% not going to be the St James

And into the woods actually sold it out. Bat Boy could not and did not at Encores. What’s your point here?

I think it’s about time that the St. James got a renovation…there’s hardly any new show we can see go in at this point and it’s long overdue for one
