More and more Broadway is starting to look like a front business for money laundering or tax evasion scheme. It's the only explanation

I would not rule out Celine being one of the producers for this Broadway transfer. She needs to keep her legacy alive and this could work as her own jukebox musical... I still think it's a terrible decision. The show is a spoof, fun but not good imo

I just don't get it, instead of having a sparse but decent season, they want to stuff it with garbage that no one wants, no one asks for, and no one will see. The last six months of Titanique were poorly sold. Beaches? A nearly 40-year-old movie that has tried this over and over again?
They should ask people what they actually want and not just assume bullsh*t based on their own egos.

Okay. I’ll play. How about a revival of Aida? Or better yet, present day demands a revival of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Both could lose money too but I’d be happy to see either over Poppins or Paddington.

If the Deborah Cox rumors are true, I'm especially confused. The role has to be a strong singer but it's a comic role primarily.
Anyone else hear those rumors?

If the rumors on here are to be believed the last guy on the sidewalk please turn the lights out!
I did mention upthread the British production of Mary Poppins, which would be a great filer before Evita, then that being a limited run would be timed to perfection for Paddington to come in.

If the Titanique rumors really are true, their best bet is announcing it as a first stop of a tour and limiting the run to 3 or 4 months, and then just doing additional extensions a la Mincemeat. I could see it being a hot ticket if they limit it for demand.

This is what I was thinking would make the most sense. I'm not a producer, clearly! Hahahahaha. I also saw the rumor (Oracle, love him or hate him, he's been correct on a handful of things.) Jim Parsons may be Rose's Mom.
Personally, I love the show and wanted it to run forever. I can also see this doing well on tour, if they pick the right markets.

Why not they make an actual Titanic Musical based on the movie??? Titanique is a joke no one wants to see that. Solea Pfeiffer as Rose would be amazing!!!!

God I hated Titanique, even so I would’ve though it would need a intimate theatre.
I think if they've got a few names in their back pockets, maybe throw in a famous pop singer for the main role, it could be a hit. Throw in a RuPaul Drag Race somebody, etc. It will likely be a contender for Best Musical and launch its brand. I'm assuming that's the goal. I don't think anyone is realistically expecting it to sell out the St. James.

It's the leads from off broadway with maybe Jim Parsons and maybe Deborah Cox. No Celine. It is a limited run.

I've never seen the show but does it stand a chance at winning Best Musical? I feel like 2 Strangers or Lost Boys feel more "Tony" to me, but I'm assuming that's the point of bringing it to Broadway? Win some awards and send it on tour? I'd assume they would have already toured it if that was feasible, but maybe the road producers don't want to book an "off Broadway" show into their "Broadway" Series?

They remembered the producers exist, but won't revive it because it'll actually make them money.

I'll be speechless if that's true.
I don't think it can win Best Musical at all.

It’s already a launched brand- it’s had productions in the UK, Australia, Canada, and France, plus a licensed production in Chicago.
While this will almost certainly be the weakest season for new musicals in 30 years, Titanique will still have a disadvantage of being a very silly parody, a genre that awards bodies generally do not really view highly.

if there's 5 contenders, they have to nominated 4? don't want to live in a world when TQOV is a Best Musical nominee....
