Will there be a SIX American Cast Recording?

I hope so. I'd love to hear a version recorded with a live band instead of the kinda bland pop fake instrument studio versions. Also a lot of the songs have missing parts as it stands on the original pop album version, so a live recording would hopefully remedy that.

A live recording of the whole show, dialogue included would be even better!

Though I do find the American cast a bit screechy and they tend to over-sing everything in a very American Idol contestant kind of way.

I think they were very smart in making the album the way they did. Much like Hamilton it's mixed with a radio/ pop audience in mind. That I think is partly what has made the songs catch on as they have, it's musicals for people that might not like that "showtune' sound. I do hope we get a OBC recording because I think that the cast has amazing talent but also hope for the limited edition purple vinyl but I'm not sure they would put much more on it then they have now and still keep that girl band feel about it rather then making it a show record. Also much of the missing dialogue is comedy or very visual in nature and might not play the best on repeat listenings where as the OCR has a nice flow to the album. ..I do love my MegaSix but do think that is best left for just the show.

They also talked about how they did a Studio Cast recording that was different than the live show so that you still have an entirely different experience at the show live. So I'm wondering if they'll do a more studio-like recording with the American cast as well."

I don't see the point of doing a US version if it is exactly the same concept as the UK one.

I was JUST about to make this exact comparison. If Be More Chill made a new recording even after having an insssaaaannnely popular recording with most of the same people, it seems a no brainier for Six to make a new recording with the North American cast.

I love the current recording, do not get me wrong, but it was done at a time when not only Broadway was a distant dream but even the West End was. I am sure orchestrations have been worked on since then, the sound quality can be upped and of course if it ends up being as big a hit as it's projected to be, they can make a marketing deal out of things like album signing and a record release. It just seems like the right choice.

A second recording has the potential to 'split' the profits of the initial recording revenues.

THAT SAID - Kevin Collum has joined SIX as a producer AFTER the initial concept recording was made. He (and his American investors) of course, would have a vested interested in therebeing a second recording that they could share in the profits of.

If a second recording of the show is made in New York, you can bet the reasons I state will be paramount in the decisions behind it.

Yes...it was funny in the BroadwayCom interview it was one of the producers who brought up a 2nd cast recording and both of the creators were like...ummm what?

Not that it may mean anything, but I recall there being a vinyl preorder for the current concept album that is out there. Really hope this doesn’t mean anything though.

Having now seen the show, a Broadway Cast recording is an absolute MUST for this show. The arrangements have come SO far from the studio recording. And the Broadway actresses are doing some things with the songs that are so much more unique than the studio recording. These 6 performances deserve to be immortalized in a recording.

I would not be shocked if they have plans for a recording in the works behind the scenes and are waiting for a particular special date or time to make the announcement. These types of things usually accompany other news to piggy back with other hype.
