CATS. easily the WORST musical ever. how on earth did it last so long?

2) Carrie (A musical that lasted..what? 7 days?)
3) Cats (One big hairy bag of randomness)

In no particular order
Catch me if you can
Finding Neverland
Ghost
Bullets over broadway
Something Rotten
edit: these are just shows that I have on my phone. So this isn’t really a complete list.
1 being the worst.
1. American Idiot
2. Cats
3. Motown the Musical
4. Love Never Dies
5. Spring Awakening
Worst shows I've seen:
5. Finding Neverland
4. Mamma Mia
3. The Bodyguard
2. American Idiot
1. First Wives Club
1. South Pacific
2. Matilda
3. Rent (I liked the CD, thought the show was a mess)
4. Oliver
5. Aladdin (a theme park show would look more expensive and probably be more creative)
There's a long list of shows I haven't seen and never want to see (starting with Spiderman: Turn off the Dark)
Motown
Spring Awakening
The Producers
Annie Get Your Gun
Carousel
1. Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat (saw it at the Kennedy Center)
2. CATS
3. Grease (the stage production)
4: Phantom of the Opera (current stage production)

By the way, if anyone has some time to kill, it might be interesting to tally up the most commonly hated musicals.
It's a Bird... It's a Plane...It's Superman
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater
Now. Here. This
The Go-Betweeen
Annie Warbucks
If we are talking professional productions:
Big River (tour in St. Louis)
Odyssey (Los Angeles tryout before it became Home Sweet Homer)
The Baker's Wife (Los Angeles tryout with Topol)
Threepenny Opera (Washington DC with Sting) (I have loved two other versions)
The Bodyguard (2017 tour with Deborah Cox)
I haven't seen nearly as many shows as most of you have, and I'm pretty picky because I don't live in NY.
Spamalot
Rock of Ages
On the Twentieth Century
The Wedding Singer
(gulp) The Pirate Queen
Just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about 20th Century, South Florida? It sort of sticks out in your list of otherwise modern shows.
Anyway, I like almost everything, but I hate the fact that Love Never Dies exists, so that'll always be my top pick for the most ill-conceived/executed show of all time...

i love musicals so this is very hard
the worst and most painful to watch:
lestat
the wall(nyc musical fest 2017)
assassins(i love sondheim but wtf???)
Limiting this to musicals that became pretty famous:
1) An American in Paris - thought the choreography was trite and the Schindler's-list second act fell totally flat
2) Anastasia - It has a few good tunes but I just hate all fictional stories that try to depict the real-life imposter Anna Anderson as the real Princess Anastasia
3) Falsettos - the score is so whiny as our the characters. I felt like 3/4 of it was Rich People Whining and the last 1/4 was Angels in America-lite. No idea why this is such a cult musical.
4) The Sound of Music - IMO one of R&H's weakest scores
5) Gigi - the storyline is so distasteful. I can't get over it.

I have been to maybe 50 shows. I forget what I saw that week but they were all infinitely better. I do not remember one song. It seems strange that people would hate on Anything Goes which was the same kind of thing, liked that a lot more. 50-75
Cats
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Phantom of the Opera
Book of Mormon

Out of all the musicals that I have seen or listened to the recording of, which is a lot because that's basically what I do when I'm not studying, I have never hated any of them. There are some I like more than others, but there has never been one that I regretted seeing or listening to.
Passing Strange
Spelling Bee
Fela
Soul Doctor
I was in pain sitting through all of these...even though I know some of them got rave reviews. To each his own I suppose!
Always wondered about Soul Doctor.
Didn't seem to win any popularity contests on Broadway.
And Home Sweet Homer was SUBLIME!
