Thank God, I bet this forces them to cancel the whole thing.

Without his participation, it's only a matter of time before the entire project is cancelled.

We can hope!

I would have liked to see him sing and dance again.

Aw, man, I've never liked Zac Efron at all, but I really thought this project was the perfect role for him-- a much better role than the ones he's done before. I was actually looking forward to this.

They should get that guy from the Nickelodeon "Spectacular" musical. He's the same type of cookie cutter pop tween.

I'm not trying to be mean but i am with you all. I feel he can't act either.
Hoping they ask Jesse Mccartney to do replace him.

Well after seeing the commercials for 17 AGAIN,
It's clear he can do anything,
(but act).
He ain't no Tab Hunter.
Why doesn't he just do porn and get it over with?

What a slap in the face to Kenny Ortega.
I hope Zac has something really big to replace it.
If not, his name will be mud in this town.

oooh! Porn would be an excellent alternative!
But in all seriousness.. I am seeing the end of his career in the near futurue.. He should stick with what made him popular to begin with, stick with his roots.. it is great to set goals, and try to achieve them... but in times such as these he should keep what is given to him and not take it for granted! Many have lost a career because they got greedy.

I'm not sure I agree. I don't think Efron is very good, but I'm open to being surprised. If he did something really out-of-the-box, like a mentally challenged character or something, and does it well, he could really gain some credibility.

LOL to the above post. Tropic Thunder anyone?
Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, 'Rain Man,' look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho'. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, 'Forrest Gump.' Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain't retarded. Peter Sellers, "Being There." Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam." Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed...

Is it wrong that I was kind of looking forward to Efron starring in it?

TheActr97J- Bahahaha! Stems from fact though, doesn't it? I must say Leonardo Di Caprio won me over in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" as did Adrian Brody in "The Village."
Makes me want to see Tropic Thunder!

It is great for some, but I think Zac Efron's circumstances will not allow for such things.

Probably not. But I'm open to it.

Footloose is about a TOWN that can't dance, not about an ACTOR who can't dance. I'm guessing they dumped Efron. And thank goodness!

Who would everyone like to see replace him?
Not who you think they will pick, if they continue with the remake, but who would you like to see in the role?
