I may get the chance to go to New York this weekend, and I really want to see Xanadu. Anyone have any idea how the Xanadu rush has been lately? I know it's really arbitrary how they do it, but will the fact that Whoopi is now in the show make it harder to get a rush ticket 2 hrs before the show? I'm not sure how much publicity she's bringing to the show or anything. Thanks!
AND is it possible if I have a carry-on bag from my flight to put it in the coat check inside broadway theatres if I am running short on time?
Seeing how she's only been in this week, I'm sure anyone will have any true info for you about rush.
However: yes, they will most likely store your bag for you.
The ushers/concession/crew/ticket taker/cast are all so friendly im surprised if Kerry dosent offer to hold it in her dressing room for you!
I've checked my suitcase many times at a Broadway show and never once had a problem.

Actually you CANNOT check your bags at the Helen Hayes theater, you have to go to the restaurant next door, I forget the name, and check your bags. It's free, don't worry.
As for the rush...I'm checking now and there are still onstage seats available for this weekend, which are only $42, so why don't you try that?
I dk what you are looking at but there are no onstage seats available until August 13th matinee. In fact, most of the stage seats are already sold out until the end of the month.
And I think the restaurant that might check your bag would be Angus McIndoe (just to the right of The HH theater.) They open at 12 PM

Any news on the rush recently?
The onstage seat availability seems to be more flexible than one would think. I went to the BO a week before to get something for last weekend (Aug 1-3) and there was only one ticket available for the Sat matinee, yet someone later in the week posted they were able to get a couple of onstage seats a day (or maybe even that same day) of that weekend. Crazy.
bump has anyone done the rush lately? i'm killing to see Whoopi in this and when I go out I was wondering if I should attempt rush or just use a discount ahead of time
Does anyone know if TKTS has them, and are they for the on stage seats?
Haven't done rush since pre-Whoopi, but happened to be walking down 44th around 1pm yesterday (i.e.: rush ticket giveaway time) and it looked like there was about 25-30 people on line.
Compare that to when I rushed pre-Whoopi about two months ago when there was... no one except me.
I just tried rush today (Tuesday, August 12, 200 and there were no student rush tickets. At all.

A friend of mine and I rushed this past Saturday (8.9.0 and had no problem whatsoever (for matinee). We got there around 11:20 (rush seats went on sale at 12) and there were only about 4 or 5 people ahead of us.
Btw, Whoopi was hysterical.

Yeah, I rushed on Saturday for the matinee and got there a little after 11. There was about 5 people ahead of my friend and I. The seats were the side seats of the orchestra. Wonderful view and didn't miss much at all.

there was NO rush today.
and it's probably not going to be offered for the rest of whoopi's stay. the show is pretty much sold out for the rest of her run. don't get me wrong, keep trying rush day to day because things constantly change.

Do they check your ID to make sure u're under 25 for the student rush?
I rushed the show last night. They had a few rush seats. We were the first few people in line. I think most of the people behind us got tickets as well. They didn't even ask to see our ID's when we asked for the tickets. I think it will just depend on what day of the week and what time the performance is.

Our seats were left orchestra all the way at the end of the row (they sold the last seat in each row behind eachother that day). They really were wonderful seats. We didn't miss too much at all.
Xanadu rush really just seems to be hit or miss so i'd keep trying randomly.

Got there around 12:40 yesterday, and waited in a line with about 15 people ahead of me.
Got row BB, on the aisle. It's the second row, but was obstructed because the stage juts out. I had to turn around at times to see the action. They were great seats, though.

I'm planning on trying the Wed Matinee rush, do you think they will have it and what time should I get there to be safe? And I don't have a student ID but it says on the website that the ID needs to show you are 25 years old or younger, do you think a passport (a copy because I don't want to bring my actual passport) will work?
