Opening at the Helen Hayes on November 1st. Great to see Second Stage bringing it to their new Broadway home!
That being said...I love Harvey as much as anyone, but does the official name really have to be HARVEY FIERSTEIN'S TORCH SONG?

Exciting news!
Do we think this will be a limited or open run?

From the press release: "Opening night for this limited engagement is set for Thursday, November 1."
This is wonderful news. I just saw Michael in Hamlet over the weekend and I was wondering if Torch Song would transfer.
Not sure if I'll go to this again, but wow I am really happy this is moving to Broadway. Michael Urie was absolutely amazing in this. I think this is a guaranteed Tony nom for him, other than the fact that it will probably be closed by the time of the Tony's.

Since year and season are not the same, you and Valentina3 are both right. Win-Win!

Lol, ditto with Boys In The Band :) still applies!
As I couldn’t fit this into my show itinerary last November, this makes me so happy. I’ll be back in NYC for sure in November so I can make sure I see this!

I saw this at Second Stage and found it quite nostalgic especially the telephone scenes (reminds me of my youth back in the late 80s and 90s!)
I really hope it does well on Broadway!
I missed it Off-Broadway - because there was never any good aisle seats available - so I'm excited to see it on Broadway, and to see the Hayes in person. Plus, it'll be catnip to Tony voters, so it'll be nice to see noms for Urie and Ruehl.
Is anyone surprised by this?
I think it was always "planned" for Broadway they just waited till HAMLET was closing to announce it.
I'm excited to see it.

That's not even a little bit true regarding New York Theater. But, enjoy the show, it's great!

How would one impact the other?
It's just polite to not rain on HAMLET'S run.

But Hamlet is running until March 4.
I just took a look at the dates because the American Express presale is going on right now. The run currently seems to be from October 9, 2018 to February 24, 2019

Having seen this revival, I just don't think it's good enough to transfer,
Chopping off an hour of the original play made it lose alot of the essential character development. I also didn't love Urie's performance. He was trying too hard to be Harvey and Harvey just can't be imitated.
I'm predicting a mighty flop
I'm excited. Will Blum is Michael Urie's standby! https://www.instagram.com/p/BnZOfQ7hkVr/?taken-by=willblum
and to those who may not think they need to get excited about this news as LizzieCurry, click through anyway because Will's post is something to get excited about regardless.
Will Blum really looks the part. Urie looked like a millennial and acted like one too. He was super miscast in my opinion and I usually am very fond of his performances.
