Remember that only about half of the voters were deemed qualified to vote for the sound design and orchestration categories.
Wow that speech by David Cromer was amazing. Actally about something serious and meaningful.
This is shaping up a one hell of a night for The Band’s Visit.

Curious to see who is the first to announce a closing following the results tonight.
Spongebob really needed tonight to sell tickets

TBV really is sweeping tonight. Personally, I'm a huge Tina Landau fan, but David deserves it.
Loved the SpongeBob segment...but was strange that he wasn't the focus.
Loved the Frozen segment. I loved Patti Murin but covered my ears to "Let It Go" (the song is so annoying).
I was surprised that the women were excluded in that Carousel segment.

Nope.
Ugh, I wish Marianne and John could tie. They deserve it equally in my eyes.

Yeah...especially considering all the criticism the show was facing about the women characters.
Lmao that poor guy is so embarrassed
Are the Tony Awards going to have to pay out their a$$ for Happy Birthday royalties now?

Nice "In Memoriam" performance from DEH. Sad to learn that this was Will Roland's last performance with the cast, seeing as his last show was earlier today.
So touching seeing Jan featured last.

And also, I know it's not their intention, but what a great advert for the tour and the show in general. Especially after all that's been happening in the news recently with well-known celebrities.
The Band’s Visit wins Best Original Score. Off the telecast.

I'm never going to get over or, honestly, forgive the people who made the choice to not dim the lights for Jan.
That was abhorrent, tacky, and something that forgive/forget doesn't cover. I'll never be able to respect the dimming of the lights ceremony again until the current administration is gone.
Lovely In Memorium segment accompanied by cast of Dear Evan Hansen. And appropriate focus on artists who have passed.
