If the rumor is true, I’m sure it’s for Toby. He’d be great, but as someone pointed out, he may not be available due to Stranger Things filming. I wouldn’t be surprised if the rumor has some truth and his agent was asked if he is “interested and available.” That doesn’t mean a done deal though. They are probably sending out “feelers” to lots of name actors for the supporting roles.
The TikTok rumor specifically said it was for Toby, and he also said earlier in the week that the production's official announcement is coming this Tuesday, so we'll see what happens.
I had the strangest dream about this show last night. Jessie Mueller was cast as the "opening night" Beggar Woman / Pirelli, but Ashford and Mueller both wanted to play Mrs Lovett and Pirelli so they started performing it in rep (alternating roles every other day). I was watching the show on a Thursday night when my seat neighbor told me Jessie would be debuting her Lovett next night and I bought tickets during intermission.
A lot of bizarreness about this dream, but the thing that stuck out to me most was (a) how brilliant and buzzy this actually would be, and (b) why the heck did I not know already and had to be told by my seat neighbor???

Ticketmaster has it as an event already. Just search Sweeney Todd. There’s art work and everything. First preview is February 26th. Presale starts tomorrow.
Attend the tale. For the first time since 1980, Broadway audiences will experience Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award®-winning score as it was performed in the original production--with Jonathan Tunick's classic 26-player orchestration on an epic scale. Tony Award-winning director Thomas Kail (Hamilton) helms the return of this musical thriller starring Tony and Grammy® nominee Josh Groban (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) as Sweeney Todd, and Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (Sunday in the Park With George, Kinky Boots) as Mrs. Lovett. Tony winner Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen) reunites with Kail as Music Supervisor, and Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett (Once, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) choreographs this new production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

The Lunt is a particularly deep theatre. If I have a choice, I prefer not to sit in the rear, particularly the rear mezz. But I often don’t have a choice, and it’s fine. Hard to say whether the seating has effected my enjoyment, because the Lunt hardly ever houses any good shows.
I want to see this just because of that 26-piece orchestra.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Yup. I love Josh and Annaleigh, but this is the big selling point for me. Sweeney is one of Sondheim's richest and most delicious scores, and this huge orchestra will sound incredible.
Odd they're only doing 7-shows a week unless it'll change when there's an official announcement. Looks like the presale date is Sept 19. Just let Groban have an alternate so they can do 8-shows a week (i.e. Midler in Hello, Dolly!).

I LOATHE the sightlines at the Lunt... I feel like no matter where you sit in that theatre, there is always some kind of obstruction. The rear mezzanine is absolutely horrible.

I'm guessing tomorrow morning for an announcement?
