I was just sitting here watching Stephen Sondheim's Company and I realized that I have so many favorite quotes from this show. What about the rest of you out there? Any quotes that strike true to life?
"I know both couples and they're both divorced."
P
"The unexamined life is not worth living"
"I am the pulse of the city"
GOD I love Company so much.
The Radio City line makes me giggle.
OH and Raul's delivery of "You are like this park...very lovely...very."
"You've got so many reasons for not being with someone but you haven't got any reasons for being alone.
But I LOVE this lyric
Marry me a little,
Body, heart, and soul.
Passionate as hell,
But always in control.
"He's from New York, so nothing really interests him."
"She's tall enough to be your mother."
(Stritch's line reading.)
There isn't enough space.

"Hey buddy don't be afraid it won't be perfect, the only thing to be afraid of really is that it won't BE"

"Thank you for including me in your thoughts, your lives, your families. Yes, thank you for remembering. Thank you."
"Blow out the candles, Robert, and make a wish. Want something. Want something."
"I'll take care of you."
"But who will I take care of?"

I think if I HAD to pick a favorite, that first one would probably be it, sweetestsiren. For many reasons.
"I think there's a time to come to New York and a time to leave. Enjoy your party."
Stop crying or I'll push your chair over.
"You have a good... third husband, Joanne."
Marta's "Look at that! You can see the East River!" in the second act.
"I was just thinking that this is probably a more interesting wedding breakfast than most. The bride is in a high-energy mode and the groom is abnormally quiet. And yet, a festive atmosphere pervades the room."
"What's the big deal about me being Jewish? Three-quarters of your friends are Jewish."
"Did I ever say I like my friends? I do not."
Basically anything from the wedding breakfast scene.

Forgive me for forgetting this (it's been a while since I've watched my Company DVD), but what was Amy's line about Paul being her own personal little jew? That line was hilarious.
I also LOVE Marta's line about being able to tell New Yorker's by their ass. That is classic.
"Don't be afraid it won't be perfect...the only thing to be afraid of really is that it won't be."

"It's on the dresser... right next to my suicide note!"
"you don't thank a person for hot orange juice, you punch them"
"Hi, Bobby, I wanted to tell you that if I'm late for the surprise party, tell Paul I'm--wait, you weren't supposed to know. Judy? It appears I've dialed the wrong number, please ignore this call. Oh, god."
"...and not because you're smart, not just because you're smart."
"how many times do you get to be 35? 11?"
"you impersonate a person better than a zombie should"
"it's using things like force together, yelling till you're hoarse together, getting a divorce together, that make mairrage a joy"
Amy's line: "Oh, I've got my very own Jew!"
Joanne's line: "She's tall enough to be your mother/Golith"
Amy's line: Something to the effect of, "Did I say I like my friends? I do not. I much prefer my dosile enemies, at least they leave you alone."
Marta's line: "I'm uptown!"
Marta's line: "I went to sit at the end of a bar...and drink, and cry" I cut that one down for space.
BTW, I laugh a little every time I watch the '06 revival and she talks about wearing all black, because she's already wearing all black. I even chuckle as I type this.
Joanne: "Sir! Two more bourbons and a vodka stinger SIIIIIIIRRRRRR!"
Susan: "Except for you really can't."
Paul: "You know if other people did to you what you do to yourself, they could be put in jail?"
