Now it's he and not you Who is stuck with a shoe, In a stew... in the goo, And you've learned something, too, Something you never knew, On the steps of the palace!
Someone else already quoted "Ten Minutes Ago" in this thread, but I thought I'd put down my favorite lyrics.
In the arms of my love, I'm flying Over mountain and meadow and glen And I like it so well that for all I can tell, I may never come down again.
I also adore all of Evening Primrose, but I especially love the openness and simplicity of "I Remember":
I remember days Or at least I try But as years go by They're a sort of haze And the bluest ink Isn't really sky And at times I think I would gladly die For a day of sky.
Also, I'm not sure these qualify as cute, but they're some of my favorites and they're lovely:
Sandcastles crumble as evening rolls in Look to the sunrise about to begin You're going places you never have been Get up the nerve to be all you deserve to be.Updated On: 6/20/13 at 08:46 PM
"A Little Priest" from Sweeney Tood is not just cute, but geniously clever. Just one of many fun parts:
What is that? It's priest. Have a little priest. Is it really good? Sir, it's too good, at least! Then again, they don't commit sins of the flesh, So it's pretty fresh. Awful lot of fat. Only where it sat. Haven't you got poet, or something like that? No, y'see, the trouble with poet is How do you know it's deceased? Try the priest! Heavenly! Not as hearty as bishop, perhaps, but then again, not as bland as curate, either! And good for business, too -- always leaves you wantin' more! Trouble is, we only get it on Sundays!
But the best is in "I Know Things Now" from Into the Woods:
"Nice is different than good."
(When you get to be my age, those five simple words strung together mean a lot! Thank you, Mr. Sondheim.)
I love that the prince sings "I have found her, she's angel/with the dust of the stars in her eyes" and later Cinderella sings "I have found him/he's the light of the stars in my eyes"
I'm a maid who would marry And will take with no qualm Any Tom, Dick or Harry, Any Harry, Dick or Tom. I'm a maid mad to marry And will take double-quick Any Tom, Dick or Harry, Any Tom, Harry or Dick.

There's the small time, and the medium time, and the big time, and the medium-small time
Small time, and the medium time, and the big time... And Kiwanis Hall time!
Big time looks down on medium time... Looks down on small time... Looks down on accordion players.
Small time. Big time. Big, small, medium time!
On the road from Maine to Dallas Hoping that we’ll play the Palace!

There are good stones and bad stones and curbstones and gladstones and touchstones and such stones as them.
There are big stones and small stones and grind stones and gall stones,
But Goldstone is a gem!
There are milestones, there are mill stones. There's a cherry, there's a yellow, there's a blue. But we don't want any old stone, only Goldstone will do! Moon stones, sun stones. We all scream for one stone. Mr. Goldstone we love you! Goldstone!

Coach Bob knew it all along: you've got to get obsessed and stay obsessed. You have to keep passing the open windows. (John Irving, The Hotel New Hampshire)
"I flip when a fellow sends me flowers, I drool over dresses made of lace, I talk on the telephone for hours With a pound and a half of cream upon my face!
It's extra fun when you do it in your bedroom and pretend you're Nancy Kwan!"
Not from a musical, but Les Luthiers have lots of great story songs that might make a great jukebox musical someday (or if they would write a new musical i would hurry to line up for tickets).
The song is An~oralgias, a hilarious parody of homeland-nostalgia songs, sung with full sincerity for greatest humor.
This stanza always makes me laugh whenever i listen to it:
Tierra que hasta ayer mi niñez cobijaba siempre te recuerdo con el corazón aunque aquel arroyito dulzón hoy sea un hirviente torrente de lava que por suerte a veces se apaga cuando llega el tiempo de la inundación.
Here are the full lyrics, all very funny:
I really like the lyrics in "You Could Drive a Person Crazy", from Company.
Particularly:
When a person's personality is personable, He should not sit like a lump. It's harder than a matador coercin' a bull To try to get you off of your rump.
Well when it comes to lyrics, it's hard not to think of Sondheim. One of my favs, from ALNM:
[FREDRIK]
She loves my voice, my walk, my mustache, The cigar, in fact, that I'm smoking. She'll watch me puff until it's just ash, Then she'll save the cigar butt.
[DESIREE]
Bizarre, but You're joking.
