Wouldn't that be more considered a type treatment than a typeface? It's a fairly standard, stately serif (Baskerville?) that's had an effect applied to it.

Interestingly, like PHANTOM before it, I think the upcoming B'way staging of AMERICAN PYSCHO will also be using that gimmick.

And I still say the American Psycho team is gambling with their treatment since it's a bit more difficult to read.

Seems like this is more of a logo thread than a typeface thread.

And man, that word "iconic" has really lost its meaning.

Cats used unique letters on their logo that were pretty recognizable.

Does anyone else find the font for the Sweeney Todd revival to be really similar to Wicked's font?

Replace the titles with other words, and see if the font is still recognizable.

The Sweeney Todd revival font and Wicked font are not just similar. They are the same font. It's called Ravenscroft. Wicked just uses a larger lowercase "W" and capital letters for the rest of the word.

A lot of these are very good choices, but the one that came to mind instantly for me was Les Miserables.

Also, maybe I wouldn't necessarily call it "iconic" but I think the font for this one is pretty well known in the theatre world:Most iconic musical theatre typeface

Don't know how to post images, but you guys do know there's a very common classic font called PLAYBILL, don't you? (Oddly, I don't know if Broadway's Playbill Magazine ever used it.) Looks like a classic seriphed Western font.
