There are three shows that I claim as being among my favorite shows without actually seeing. I have never seen any production of Assassins or Nine, but I’ve read the librettos to both and have the revival recordings of both shows. I’ve never even read the libretto to LaChiusa’s Wild Party so when people say it has book problems I can’t argue against them, but I love the score enough to claim it as one of my favorite shows anyway.
