We can bemoan his tactics all we like but I'm betting the DP didn't get in the way of any more shots.
This reminds me of the now infamous Lily Tomlin/David O. Russell freakout on the set of I <3 Huckabees. They're all off their meds!

I don't know the context of this audio...but, I sometimes feel this way when I'm working very hard on a project and others don't put in the same kind of work or respect the work I've put in. That isn't to excuse him...because there is no reason anyone should talk to another human being that way...but, while I've never come close to this kind of a meltdown, I am not above relating to it, either.
There was no excuse for the way he acted. First of all...Christian Bale is a joke of an actor. He SUCKED in The Dark Knight and can barely act. Second, he makes VIOLENT threats against a person, and threatens to destroy property. In most professions he would be out of a job for this behavior, so he should count his lucky stars that they are putting up with his behavior. Where were the backbones of the others on the set? I really can't believe that no one stood up to him and told him where to stick it.

And... Ewan McGregor got his mole removed recently.
One down, Obama to go!
Erm, I mean...
I have never found him to be that attractive.
The morning shows on the radio were having a field day with this today.

Probably not, but actually the DP had the upper hand. He was staying calm, unlike Bale. Lighting people handle pipestands all the time. Bale wouldn't want to have his pretty actor's face smashed to the bone. Reconstructive surgery can't do everything. The audio tape would show who started it and possible intent. Who could blame the DP for defending himself? Cameras rolling. Action.

Bale's just pissed about Ledger stealing all the thunder for THE DARK KNIGHT.
Where'd this audio come from anyway? Had someone onset had enough of little Christian's temper tantrums?
Beauty is as beauty does.
He went off the deep end.

I wonder if any of the union reps have had anything to say about the incident.

Well, the audio was sent to the movie's insurance company, just in case Bale walked. I imagine somebody pissed at Bale leaked it.

Roscoe - that was my first thought, too.
Matt Lauer said this morning that if he (Matt) acted like that to a crew member, there would be consequences. (paraphrase).
something supernatural.
Does anyone have the audio of his reaction to being told he was doing Terminator 4, not Macbeth? What an a$$hole!
No papa I wouldn't. I think he's unattractive. I do have some standards you know.

I agree with you, touchme.

But this is a movie and any movie actor should be used to constant interruptions, constant starting and stopping, going back and doing it again.
Goth, true, but once the camera is rolling, anyone in the business knows you don't walk across the set. Especially someone like the DP. Not that I condone Bale's going off the deep end, but that guy should NEVER have been walking through like that.

And once the camera is rolling, I'm sure actors know not to mess up their lines either. The point is that mistakes happen. Bale has the right to be mad, but this rant verges on psychotic.
The heart of Bale's rant (when you ignore all psychological angles) is that walking into the shot ruins it, takes up time, etc. But his screaming fit took up a lot more time and energy than if he'd just said, whoops, someone in the shot, let's go again.
We've all had bad days. But I don't think Bale's problems are helped by people coddling him. That kind of childish, egoic rage is a cry for help, not for enabling or allowing.

Was this guy directing as well as acting? I thought the director calls the shots and the actors stay in character. I guess that's just for the stage.
I relate to this myself, as I take my work as an actor (in theatre) very seriously, so I understand being a little miffed when someone ruins the moment and takes me out of the zone.
But this "he's very dedicated to his work; he was still in character" BS is just ridiculous. Was he in character when he attacked his mom and sister? Hmm.
There's no excuse for his behavior. Whether or not he is "dedicated" to his craft, that's no excuse for him to act like a spoiled brat. It's not sexy, it's not cute, it's not professional. Get help Batman.
