Dang, Beyonce, that was LOVELY.
Her earrings are making my head hurt.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this section introduced with a comment that Ms. Streisand supported "up and coming" performers? Idina has a Tony and Beyonce has a Grammy. Not exactly up and coming...
I will have to re-watch my Tivo.
Maybe they both represent wanna be up and coming cross-over stars?
I stopped looking at the TV and just "listened" to Beyonce, and she was wonderful.
Is that Nick Adams and Spencer Liff dancing with Ne Yo?

I liked Beyonce better than Idina!
Caroline Kennedy looks so tired.
Kelli O'Hara and Nathan Gunn doing Somewhere...yum!
I'm just happy Glenn Close didn't sing. Whew.
I'm biased, but I thought this tribute was absolutely wonderful. Brought me to tears again, dang it.
Beyonce takes my breath away.
She's so beautiful. And I've finally stopped being surprised at how spectacular her voice is.
Bwah! Agreed, Miss P.
I preferred Beyonce to Idina, too. I am surprised. I don't think I have gotten to that point yet, Reginald, but I don't know why.
Beyonce should record this.I think she did a beautiful job. Even Babs looked impressed!
beyonce hit "the way we were" outta the park.
what a beautiful rendition.
is there anything that girl can't sing?
just beautiful.
I bet Beyonce would do "Somewhere" beautifully.
Addy--this is the Kennedy Center Honors. "Up and comers" means "Not yet eligible for AARP."
I took a shower during that segment, but I now wish I saw the earrings.
Beyonce is just gorgeous, and those earrings only detracted from her beauty. They made her look like Bat Boy.
I think Idina was terrible. But she was WAAAYYY better than Caroline Kennedy.
Beyonce was amazing... (I just stopped looking at the earrings).
And, Kelli O'Hara and Nathan Gunn. *sigh*
Beautiful tribute.

I'm so thankful to have caught the tributes to George Jones and Babs.
I loved every minute of it.
Thank you to those who choose to honor the arts on a national level.
Q, I also loved the tribute to George Jones.
I thought the entire evening was special...

Addy - this really is one of my favorite things ever - I've watched every year.
It's impossible to please everyone, and goodness knows not everyone agrees on what constitutes art. But, this is what we've developed on a national level to say it has signifigance - and, all things considered, I think they do an incredible job.
Miss P - I can't believe you watched this instead of Grey Gardens!
I recorded Grey Gardens, Mamie. I will forever have it on a DVD.
Besides, it's on again in 90 minutes.
I've never been a fan of Idina, but I thought she was fine. She looked absolutely gorgeous.
Beyonce did a wonderful job, too.
Beyonce's vocal was redone for the TV show. It was not the original, sung vocal at the tribute.
She is OK but come on. Will we listen to her in 20 years? Let's face it: the bar of quality has gotten lower and lower over the years so maybe we will listen to her because all the greats will have gone. Mariah and Whitney are around but again they are not as good as their counterparts from the 60s.
The bottom line is that not Beyonce nor anyone else will have the career of Streisand.
And Streisand should be ashamed of herself for allowing laziness and vanity to prevent her from doing some of the challenging roles that Meryl and others have done.
Word to Barbra: get off your ass and direct "The Normal Heart" to make Larry Kramer happy and star in "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" with Dustin Hoffman, Gael Garcia Bernal, Goldie Hawn, and Sarah Jessica Parker to make Charles Busch happy.
