I have a bet going with a friend, so I figured I'd post a poll here. I'm particularly interested in younger people's responses (teens, early 20s, etc) but everyone is welcome to weigh in.
What do you think is the most famous movie line of all time, in your personal estimation?
AFI did a list. I believe their #1 was "Frankly, I just don't give a damn"
I was going to say the same. ^
Didn't AFI do something like this? I think Some Like It Hot's
"Nobody's perfect." was #1. But My personal fav line has always been. Casablanca's "Round up the usual suspects." Can you get anymore blase` cynical and politically astute?
Yup, I know what AFI says, but I'm asking for your personal opinion about the most FAMOUS movie line, not the "best." :)
Get the line right.
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
Sorry. Double post.

My vote goes to "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse."
I like "There's not enough spaghetti for you Taffy. How about some toast?"
"I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." and all of its variations.

Then there's the very first spoken line - "You aint heard nothin' yet!"
"Here's looking at you kid"-Casablanca came to mind when I first read the title. I knew that line before I'd even seen the movie.
"Louis this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship" -- Humphrey Bogart as Rick -- "Casablanca"
"We'll always have Paris" -- Humphrey Bogart as Rick -- "Casablanca"
I know it's not a line but the song "As Time Goes By" -- Casablanca
"I could a been a contenda" -- Marlon Brando as Terry -- "On The Waterfront"
"I guess this is just another lost cause, Mr. Paine. All you people don't know about lost causes. Mr. Paine does. He said once they were the only causes worth fighting for. And he fought for them once, for the only reason any man ever fights for them; because of just one plain simple rule: 'Love thy neighbor.'... And you know that you fight for the lost causes harder than for any other. Yes, you even die for them. "
-- James Stewert as Smith -- "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"
"Fasten Your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night!"

I would think it's Rhett's dismissal of Scarlett.
I, however, gravitate towards "There's no place like home."
Snafu, That is the first line that came to my mind also.
Just a question Shbrt, why are you looking for responses from younger people in particular?
GWTW's "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
"Just a question Shbrt, why are you looking for responses from younger people in particular?"
Because no one cares what anyone has to say once they hit 30.
Maybe because Shbrt hasn't seen any movies made before 1985, and thinks most people in their teens and early 20s haven't either.
None of that "old" stuff here. You know ... those "classics."
*holds nose*
He probably wants 20 somethings to see what those with less experience believe to be the most famous line. I suppose if you have less experience, but still know a popular line, it says something about the line. I'm 23, and have never seen GWTW or Casablanca, but I understand that they contain some of the most famous movie lines in History.
Personally, I would say "There's no place like home"
I was going to say the Rhett Butler line as well.
I'd vote for "There's no place like home."
I'd vote for "I am your father"
