A close friend of mine posted this letter on Facebook and it has now been shared by thousands of people, per my friend's request (to help expose the letter's author).
The anonymous letter is addressed to my friend's aunt, written by a heartless creature, asking that she leave the neighborhood because of her mentally handicap child. This is the sickest thing I have ever read.

Plus I can't count the number of outrages I've seen on facebook that turn out to be hoaxes of one kind or another. Does anyone have a link to anything other than facebook that verifies this as real?

As the letter was printed on a home printer, they can easily find out where it came from. They've put tracking devices into printers for the last few years and they leave some sort of mark on whatever they print that can be tracked.
So, I really hope they find this loser.

It's also possible that she made a copy of the original and took a picture of that. Tough to know. Either way, it's VERY real (I know Tania) and makes me sick.
Let's hope this garners even more attention and that the writer is identified soon.

Posted: 8/19/13 at 6:05pmI saw this this morning, was disheartened by the vile parent's letter, and am encouraged at the rallying support the greater community (and the internet) is churning together.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

I got this on my feed earlier today. To me, it doesn't sound like an adult. I'm going to guess that its teenagers being a$$ holes. Not necessarily to BE a-holes, they very well might believe in what they are saying.
Sad regardless of who did it.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

You know, I understand there's tons of Facebook hoaxes, but if you bothered to click the link, or do a simple Google search, you'll see it's been picked up by some news sources.
Step back, look at the bigger picture, and stop trying to use this as an attack on someone you have petty message board issues with.

Having worked at group homes in areas of Brooklyn, I don't think this letter is a hoax. I have witnessed ignorant people's comments. Yes, this is over the top and may very well be the work of local teenagers, or it could very well be the work of one crazy, hateful neighborhood mom.
With bad comes the good however. It is truly heartening to see the community, both actual and virtual rise up in support of this family!
