The Hadestown reports are giving me flashbacks to their June 11th 2019 performance, their first night back from the Tony's. I'm from Texas and made the trip up to see the show (amongst a bunch of other 2019 things) that week and it was hands down the most energetic and standing-O filled show I've ever seen. So so incredibly happy for everyone that was there tonight, that memory is so dear of mine and I can only imagine ya'll who were there will cherish that performance for years. Feels amazing to see things finally reopen. The Nick Cordero tribute at Waitress made my heart so warm.
Truly an opening night. Jordan Roth sitting center orch aisle, row J with older man he accompanied as show was to start. With all the masks on, it was hard to tell alot of faces. Thought one was Joe Mantello, but could be wrong.
Energy levels unreal. All gave more into their roles. Prefer Patrick Page. The chemistry just wasn't there with Tom.
Loved the balcony get together. Makes up for no stage dooring. Alot of fun.

I work in Midtown so I plan on going to the Hadestown box office during my lunch break to see what's happening regarding last-minute cancellations. I'm sure there are a few people who won't be able to get to the city today (or won't want to because of the situation)."
Update - swung by the box offices for Hadestown and Waitress around noon. At the Hadestown box office, they said there were no tickets available, but they strongly suggested I come back later. I'll check back when I'm done with work at 5:30ish. At Waitress, they had one Orchestra ticket available for $300 (no thanks) and the rush tickets were unsurprisingly already claimed. I'm hoping if I linger around both theaters close to curtain I might be able to snag a decent ticket, but I live close by so no sweat if I don't. I'll also mention that the box office workers at both theaters were extremely friendly!"
Wow, last night still feels like a dream!
I went back to the Hadestown box office around 5:40pm and was offered Seat 1 in Box 1 for $99, which I immediately purchased. It was an amazing seat, and being so close to where Andre spends most of the show was an unforgettable experience. The first time I cried was when I saw Amber Gray getting emotional during the standing ovation when they all went on stage. You could truly feel the catharsis in the room. I cried multiple times lol but really lost it during the curtain call. The outdoor celebration was the cherry on top of a very special evening that I won't forget.
It was my first time seeing the show (moved to NYC right before COVID hit) and I was blown away. Afterward, I texted my aunt and said it was the best show I've seen in a long time. I will definitely be back!

Speaking of face masks, did ushers become mask enforcers? Were drinks sold at the theater? If so I'm guessing some people perhaps sipped every few minutes to avoid wearing a mask?
How was entering the theater with ushers checking tickets and vaccination cards?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
The bar at the Ethel Barrymore for Waitress was closed, they did have water for sale but nothing else beverage wise. They said it should be fully open Saturday. I'm guessing Hadestown bar was open?
An actress in Waitress tested positive for Covid recently but the show went on with an understudy after everyone else tested negative, the New York Times reports. Obviously feel terrible for the actor (who's identity is not known and should remain unknown) but very happy to see the show going on regardless.

I was at Hadestown and it was pretty painless. Someone came down the line as we were waiting and asked us to have our cards and IDs out. As we entered the barricades leading up to the doors there were employees on either side to check our cards. Took about 5 seconds.

Was not there last night but have been to Hadestown 10+ times and each time the line was well organized and painless. Even one afternoon they opened the door at 10 of and still had the show start only 5 min late. I’ve been through many other lines that were so disorganized and took way too long to get in. I’d take Hadestown any day.

As it should be. Glad everyone had such a wonderful time!

Do we think they'll bring this back at future shows? What about the Guest Check cards?"
Not sure if this is what you’re talking about but it reminded me - downstairs next to the merch stand they had blank Guest Checks and encouraged people to leave a message for the cast/production and then hang them on the wall. I thought that was cute.
Any word yet on whether they raised the music for Hades to accommodate Hewitt? From what I know of his other work, it doesn’t seem like he has the same bass range as Page. Raises an interesting question about what will happen to the role in the future - there are so few leading men types on Broadway with bona fide bass voices.

The music was considerably raised for him, but he did do a wonderful job. He brought a much seedier side of Hades next to Patrick’s more suave Hades. The show really does work better with Patrick’s unique voice though

If I remember right, the audition notices for the tour said that they would also see ranges of G2-E4 (the score is written for G1-E4), so it's possible Hewitt is singing the lowest parts up an octave if they haven't transposed for him. Haven't seen the show with him yet, though, so I don't know for sure.

Agreed. Hewitt was great in his own way. And sexy too.
