The atmosphere tonight at Waitress was electric. I got emotional so many times before the show even started, from walking into the theater to the pre-show announcement to the curtain going up. You could just feel the audience waiting to explode at every possible moment. There were standing ovations tonight before the show, after Opening Up, Never Ever Getting Rid of Me, I Didn't Plan It, and obviously She Used to Be Mine. After the curtain call, Sara spoke to the audience, thanking us for being a part of this special night. They also paid tribute to Nick Cordero by changing one of the lines in the show for him and then bringing Amanda Kloots up on stage. Then the entire cast sang one of Nick's songs. All in all, it was a really special night. I still have chills and am getting misty just thinking about it. I'm so happy Broadway is back.
I am literally moved to tears every time I see one of these reopening videos and I'm A) not someone who gets emotional easily and B) have no connection to Waitress - I actually haven't even seen it. But my goodness, keep all the videos coming. There's a bootleg of the Hadestown entrances too floating out there and my goodness.... breathtaking. I can't wait to get back to see shows and desperately wanted to be there for a show's reopening night but can't make it work in my schedule.

From what I could see and remember 3 t shirts, a window card, 2 magnets, a pie pin, a SB book, another book of some kind (maybe a program), and a cap. The line was long so I just went back upstairs instead because nothing jumped out at me.
Such a treat to see this Waitress cast. This is truly a cast of Waitress MVPs. Sara was great in the role when I saw her in 2019 but she has grown so much as an actress. Her performance is stunning and the chemistry with the whole cast is really exciting. Also, the vaccine check was super quick and easy and there was hardly a line when I went in at 6:30. This was never the case at the Brooks. Also happy they have a theatre with more women’s restrooms.
Went down to Hadestown, and it was beyond electric. Even the preshow cell phone speech received a five minute ovation. The place caught on fire when the cast gathered on the stage, and the great Mr DeShields lfaced a mountainous standing ovation that prevented him from starting the show for literally 10 minutes…….. EVERY major song —- Road to Hell, Living it Up, Way Down Hadestown and especially Wait for Me had endless standing Ovations and everyone of the cast were moved to tears.
Andre and Amber were perfection, Eva hit incredible notes (especially in Flowers) and Reeve broke my heart. So so so happy to see Jewelle (the new fates were okay, I really missed Kay and Yvette), and Tom was surprisingly good. I obviously much prefer Patrick in the role, but Tom was good in act 1, and really dove into Act 2 and became a great Hades.
Anais and rachel made brief curtain speeches, and the cast regrouped on the balconies outside the Walter Kerr to sing and throw flowers to the very crowded street below.
Truly a night that I will never forget. To hear that trombone riff live again was incredible

Ah, I was waiting for this review! So great to know that Tom delivers as Hades. Did you happen to see any merch? Were there refreshments? I don't know how I'm going to survive five more days til I see Hadestown again.
