For the record, we enjoyed Young Frankenstein also.

I'm disappointed that the reviews aren't better =(
BTW, it is asking me log in/sign up to see Brantley's review so I haven't been able to read it. I think that might be a good thing!

Whereas I found it completely mind-numbing, offensive to my intelligence, badly performed, badly written, and outright stupid. I guess we just have wildly different tastes!

I found the pull quote from the times review (yes there is a ligitimate one inside all of that pan)
"Allison Janey ... is the show?s biggest asset."

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

Allison Janney is a goddess, but as I mentioned before, I found her to come off awkward and out of place. I wish she'd do something better suited to her talents. I thought Hilty was the one with all the star quality and the chops to back it up, and that's hard for me to admit considering my unswerving devotion to Janney.
Off topic, but I just remembered that quick cut to Bradley Whitford at the Tonys right after the Young Frankenstein performance. His face said it all. Does anyone else remember that?

If they nominate her in lead category what do you all think her chances will be? It seems like many reviews have dissed the show but have crowned her the new Queen of Broadway.

And you as well, Mr. Roxy! We may not understand each other but one man's food...
I would love to see her win a Tony but not for this. She can and should do so much better in a kickass role where she can really show how brilliant she is. I seriously think she's one of the best actresses working today, and has a great flair for physical comedy despite her great height.

Bradley Whitford's face after that segment was my absolute favorite part of the telecast, ShbrtAlley. It was priceless.

Sorry to deviate from this, but wtf is going on with Steven from Word of Mouth?! Was he released from a mental hospital prior to seeing the show?
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.

When has he ever NOT liked a show?
He said the current revival of GUYS AND DOLLS was as good as last season's revival of SOUTH PACIFIC.

It's sad the reviews are mixed to positive. However, it won't really matter because the word of mouth will do it more justice than anything Brantley can throw their way!

Why is that when the reviewer doesn't agree with YOUR opinion they are out gunning for a show? Can't it just be that Brantley didn't like it?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Laughter is much more important than applause. Applause is almost a duty. Laughter is a reward.

Regardless of Brantley's asinine review, it was the funnest night I have had at the theater in a long time.

"Has Brantley ever liked Stephanie Block?"
Is he the one who reviewed Pirate Queen without ever mentioning her by name? Couldn't remember whether it was Brantley or Riedel, but I always wondered if perhaps he'd caught the show on one of the nights Kathy Voytko was on.

Jefferey Lyons loves everything because he likes to see his name in print up on a marquee.
