Wow, that's pretty confident!

Hahaha! You beat me by less than a minute! :)
Good for them. Very well-deserved. Too bad it's not going to win Best Play.

Rudin says that most of the cast will be replaced. I would guess that Houdyshell stays, and the rest go.
So: who could be a good replacement for Nora?
Do you think they have a big name replacement lined up? Seems like that might be the only thing that might justify such a long extension.

It was inevitable.
The critics did their job well.
They must all be thrilled.
But as for the unknowing theatregoers lured into seeing this: well, suckered again.
Fabulous news! I saw it on Friday and can't stop thinking about it. I wish Amy Morton was a big star so Rudin would cast her for a brief stint while she's on break from her TV show. Such a juicy role. Imagine all the great casting possibilities, someone get Marcia Gay Harden on the phone (crap, she's also got a TV show). What is Cherry Jones up to?
All four roles are great. It reminds me of GOD OF CARNAGE where I imagine top talent will be attracted to this.
Fantastic news!
Can't wait to see who else they have lined up for Nora. And fingers crossed Laurie walks away with a Tony on Sunday night.
Amy Morton is actually doing Hir at Steppenwolf this summer. I'm really looking forward to it.
KJisgroovy, that sounds incredible. Please report back after the show, she's truly a gift from the gods.
Cherry Jones would make a great Nora and she's certainly a well loved name in the theatre community. They may want a slightly bigger name however.
Just an aside....
In the article they list awards and nominations for every cast member except Rashad. It just says "....and Condola Rashad". She has 3 Tony nominations.
Hm. I wonder how long they're all contracted for? I mean, it seems like this is turning out to be a "hit" of sorts, I'd think, especially if she wins, that Metcalf would stay on for at least 6 months.
I believe Metcalf would have to leave to film the Roseanne reboot.

July 25. Metcalfe will have to leave for Roseanne.
On the other board, they're saying this is just a stunt by Rudin to get Tony votes.

I find it tough to believe this show will still be standing in January 2018 unless they get a legitimate big name replacement or two.
Even then, I still think it closes before the stated end date.

So any exciting possibilities for replacements. I wonder if the appeal of juicy parts in a 90-minute production might pull in some candidates who otherwise would not consider the draining Broadway schedule.
Oh and before I forget ... give it a rest After Eight.
You are so wearisome with your tired cynicism and criticism.

JBC3,
I'll give it a rest when the situation warrants it. And I can't say I hold high hopes for that.
And you're weary of reading my posts, the solution is simple: don't read them. Or better yet, use the ignore feature. But if you fail to avail yourself of either of those solutions, then, please, for heaven's sake, stop whining!
Wonderful news! I'll be in NYC in November with my friend, and I would LOVE for her to see it. Fingers crossed on Sunday for Laurie and the rest of the cast.
Someone on ATC mentioned Martha Plimpton as a replacement Nora, and I would be so on-board for that.

Assuming she and Rudin have "made up", how about Audra as the next Nora?
Or maybe Edie Falco (although her previous Broadway appearances haven't exactly done anything for the box office (NIGHT MOTHER, FRANKIE & JOHNNY, HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES).
Kathy Bates as Ann Marie? Tyne Daly?
It'd never happen, but it would be cool to see them do 2-3 week stints of stunt casting throughout the rest of the run. Sort of a Love Letters-esque casting deal but with big names to draw people back again.

Audra is doing Lady Day in London through September.
Most women of a certain age could play this Nora and make it work.
