Hearing rumblings from some friends in the business that they're looking to play the UK next later this year or early next, still aimed towards Broadway.

Makes sense. I will say this till I'm blue in the face but it would be foolish to open within a year of the current Broadway Great Gatsby closing. 18-24 months might be even better. The more time between the two, the better.
At this point a best-case scenario for Chavkin Gatsby would be Jeremy Gatsby closing within the first half of 2025, and then Chavkin Gatsby could open in Spring or Fall of 2026.
If success is setting a benchmark and then hitting or exceeding it, then the Broadway Great Gatsby has done that: they've created a populist, flashy, big Broadway musical that is clearly resonating with the general public and is going to do well on the road and internationally.

The Great Gatsby on Broadway ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s gonna be a long runner, like Moulin Rouge.

Anyone have any idea what theatre it would go into? Heard rumours the original thought was the Playhouse but Cabaret is lasting longer than they expected. I think it could do well in a medium sized house.

I wonder if it would stay at a "regional" theatre like the Barbican or something like that. I don't know if a commercial run is aimed before Broadway.

A.R.T. Gatsby, it appears that you're running out of territory to stake out as your own, old sport. According to the end of this article (translated), https://www.newdaily.co.kr/site/data/html/2024/08/19/2024081900017.html, the Broadway musical is also planning to open a production in the West End. No specific mention of when.
Google Translate-mediated quote from Chun-soo Shin: "We are currently preparing for a performance in the West End of England, and it is scheduled to be presented in Korea in the second half of 2025. We are also looking into advancing into Germany, Spain, Australia, China, and Japan."

How nice of them. I’d like them to beat the Florence Welsh Gatsby to London as well. Nederlander is one of the producers on it, so I’m sure they can get a theatre easily.

I don’t even know where to begin on the factual errors of this post.

What are you talking about? There is only one fact stated in this post and it is entirely correct. The Nederlanders are part of the producing group for The Great Gatsby. The rest is the poster's wishes and supposition.

According to the S.O. Chavkin is being let go, likely, in favor of Rebecca Frecknall for the London transfer.

It's probably painfully obvious, but "S.O."? Security Officer? Senior Official? Significant Other?

Why are we still using him as a source of gossip? His track record has only gotten worse.

Come on, Jorge. You're one of the good ones.
Don't cite Sweaty Nutsack as a reputable source.

Wow if that’s true, there’s no loyalty. I wonder if that’s because of Martyna, Florence, or ATG. I’m assuming Rebecca got involved in the project because of Martyna. Did Frecknall do any work on Gatsby before the ART run. Readings?

1. We don't know if it's true.
2. We don't know why, if it is.
This is a business - not a community theater.

Y'all realize you are putting your trust in a sweaty man in a bathrobe that just screams at the camera right?

The Oracle says Chavkin was let go. However, he specifically says he does NOT know who the new director will be or if London is the plan now. He highlighted that Frecknall was developing it prior to Chavkin. If you're going to peddle his rumors, at least post what he says with accuracy!

Have you even seen the Florence Welsh version?

No I haven’t, but I don’t like how people poop on bway gatsby. It’s a wonderful production and musical. And honestly, I think on the whole, the reaction to both of them was equal. Several people said they put them on the same level, one was not better than the other. Obviously one is more artsy and one is more for the masses, but there was plenty of criticism of the ART gatsby, the only thing people said was superior was the score, but had lots of issues in other areas, that could be one of the reasons they fired Rachel.

I'm not standing up for anyone: Merely saying that if Jorge is going to post a rumor on here, at least post the actual rumor (whether correct or not) instead of making something up or posting an incorrect memory!

Nobody is entrusting this person with their lives or safety; We’re talking Broadway rumours here, not neurosurgery.

for what it's worth, he was right about Maybe Happy Ending: I'm told it was in the process of shutting down and then someone saved the day.
As we've said with other things, sometimes these rumors are true at the time they're revealed, and then plans change.
If GATBY's process out of town was as rough as I've heard it was, and if Chavkin is in a bit of a vulnerable creative state right now, it makes some sense to go with a different director, whether that is Frecknall or someone else...a lot of people could do interesting things with this property. Marianne Elliott, John Tiffany, Michael Arden, Christopher Wheeldon, Justin Peck, George Wolfe, Matthew Warchus, Michael Mayer, etc.
