I love me some Adam but sometimes his "performance" face can be a little.....much, and on a big screen...wow. I really like Kristin Bell but I don't know, her voice is a bit high (granted I've only heard her in Reefer Madness).
So, Leona Lewis may not be an obvious choice when people think Aida, but I was listening to her song, "Brave", while reading about the Aida movie and it hit me like a brick.
Why choose someone who'll play Aida JUST like Headley did? No one will be Heather Headley. Beyonce just can't hit the notes, and I'm sick of seeing her in every black musical. Leona Lewis, though, she can hit every note, but be different from Heather Headley's depiction and put her own identity in the role. Her voice has a vulnerability to it and I just think it's beyond suited to the actual songs.
And listening to Strongest Suit, wouldn't it be the cutest thing to hear that song with a bit of country twang? Martina McBride has the vocals and the red hair...
They could actually still do a movie. I mean they would have to do some major casting.
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
Peronally I think Diana Degarmo could pull off Amneris. I saw a video of her in Hairspray, and she's a SURPRISINGLY good actress. Also, did anyone else think that John Hickok sounded like Gavin Degraw on the cd? Gavin has my vote for Zoser. And Gavin Creel as Radames ftw.
"Peronally I think Diana Degarmo could pull off Amneris"
Really? I do not think she could pull it off. They need someone big in the role, and all the roles for that matter, if they want it to do well as a movie. The title alone will not bring people in.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
HELLLLOOOOOO?!? It's been staring everybody in the face for like the past 20 comments. The PERFECT Aida is clearly Jennifer Hudson with her sexy now body! As for amneris, I like Kristin Bell or Laura Bell Bundy or Julianne Hough. Rademes.....the person who said Zac efron is obviously insane, but i like Hugh Jackman. Sexy doesn't age. Lol
That's ironic you said that. I saw her performance on Leno last night and thought that if this movie were to happen in the near future, she would be a great Aida.
I doubt this movie will happen, though I personally think it has the potential to be a fantastic film. Anyone think that this is a bit more possible now that the "Into the Woods" film has proven to be a success?
In my perfect world, if they were only gonna use "names", this is how I'd cast it:
Aida: Jennifer Hudson Radames: Chris Pine Amneris: Lady Gaga (Not the biggest fan, but she'd be perfect for this) Mereb: Bruno Mars (assuming he can act)
Doubt this ever happens. It's been dead way too long and I doubt any cares at this point considering how much more Disney has on it's plate right now.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Don't mess with my emotions. That poster better better be real.

I definitely think it will happen...eventually. I think it's one of those things right time, right people things. I have always wondered why it hasn't happened yet. It seems like one of those movies that would do well at the Oscars.

except that the libretto is one of the worst ones i have ever read (or seen performed). would need a huge overhaul for the screenplay.
