A little taste of Epiphany

I don’t want to be the person that judges off an audio bootleg but… oof.
Sounds like they transposed it up a semitone for Tveit. Same with Locke and his “Not While I’m Around.”

The production is just a starlet vehicle. Without these people it would be hands down the worst Sweeney NYC has ever seen.
I may be the only one that says this and I mean no disrespect to Aaron, but that did not sound good. I thought he could hit some of those baritone notes but I guess I was wrong. Ouch
It’s giving BFA student karaoke.
Well in person, I thought he sounded fantastic. *shrug*
I swear! The second I heard him go up a full octave, I was like, he might as well just do Roxanne!
“And I’ll never see Johanna…PUT ON THE RED LIGHT”
That’s all I have to say!
Plus I saw the understudies a week or so back and thought it was a perfectly thrilling production. Different in tone from some. I did think some of the hamming wasn’t necessary. Overall it was a fantastic afternoon of theatre.

YIKES! I was skeptical about Aaron but not Sutton.
Like the publicity reads:
12 WEEKS ONLY!
GOD THAT'S GOOD

Gee, almost like part of casting a role should be being able to hit the notes. What a crazy concept, I know.

Oh. This... is not what I was expecting. Already bought my tickets though, so hopefully it will be better in person?

Do you know if any of his other songs had the key raised ? I imagine so since epiphany was higher. I can’t imagine him singing barber and his wife in the original key.

Such a misfire.
Besides Jordan, was anyone else actually there tonight or are we all writing off their performances based on two bootleg audio clips?

The video posted on IG of him doing the last part of Epiphany is great. The audience certainly liked it, too.

There are a lot of reactions at the Reddit thread at the top of this page. They're all over the place. "Aaron is great!" "Aaron is terrible!" "This is Sutton's show!" "Sutton was...not good!" It's a real roller coaster ride.

Why is Edith Bunker singing "The Worst Pies in London?"
Oh wow. I had a feeling that Sutton wouldn't be a good fit for the role but I never imagined she would sound that bad.
Better to throw your money down the sewer, as Lovett would say.
