What do you think the next musical to announce they're closing will be. I know it's the down season, but some of those ticket sales have been incredibly low for a while.

Bold predictions: The Producers and Beauty & the Beast.
I meant after those ones. I'll edit it to say the next to annouce they're closing.
THE PRODUCERS and Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST have confirmed closing dates.
The next musical to close will be....
THE PIRATE QUEEN!!!
Yankeefan, how can you say Beauty & the Beast and The Producers will close!
I hate when people get so negative on this board.

SPELLING BEE =]
TARZAN; ha i wish
PQ.
I would imagine it will hang on until the Tonys, but when it doesn't win any (I assuming it will get at least a technical nom somewhere), I would say it will fold.
I believe Reidel (sp?) mentioned in his "Mermaid" article that "tarzan" would most likely be closing around Labor Day

Legally Blonde (I just see it going the way of the Wedding Singer)
Im praying Pirate Queen lasts until December when im over, same with Spring Awakening!
Pirate Queen
Legally Blonde
Tarzan
Boy, this is some pro-Broadway board here, huh?
Wishful thinking - no hard facts.
Argh, me thinks Pirate Queen is the next moosical to close that hasn't already announced it to be! Argh!

I think Pirate Queen will run as long as Hot Feet. Legally Blonde should last at least a year or two. If Raul & Ebersole win the Tonys they should give their shows new life - otherwise they're on their last legs.
Isn't Queen already losing money? It has to be. I can't see them keeping it alive until the Tony's. They should have opened it in April.
Let's remember that this is just someone's opinion. But just to set the record straight, Company is financially stable so you can stop writing the obits on it for the time being. I would love to see it sold out (of course) but it doesn't need to be the way large expensive shows have to, to cover costs.
I don't see Company closing before the end of the summer, at the very least. Though, if the Raul in Young Frankenstein rumors are true, it may have to fight to stay alive without him...
Yeah I can't see Company lasting without some kind of name as Bobby, be it a broadway name or otherwise. I just don't see people buying the appeal without a draw. Not that I think that it's right or fair, just how it probably will be. Anyone with the over/under that they get NPH or John Stamos to take over for Raul?
I also don't see Disney letting Tarzan close any time soon. They can pump their Disney stars into that show and keep it breathing for at least 2 more years.
Unfortunetly Spelling Bee might be a casualty if what I'm reading about attendance is true. Although when I saw it for a second time in January, it was packed.
And Legally Blonde will more likely than not be a smash hit, even if it gets panned(which I don't think it will)
Why are we banking on other people's misfortunes? What kind of a thread is this?
well, BobbyBubby, you're dealing with people who were wanting to BUY the Hilton Theatre to mount this show. i suspect they'll pull a Twyla Tharp and keep the fcuker open until it's withering and dying before us on stage.
I think Company will do as Sweeney did, and not outlive its original cast. I also think it will run about as long as Sweeney did.
That said, I have on good authority that it's not closing anytime soon, so y'all can stop your worrying. I'm so tired of seeings posts (from people who love the show, no less!!) that "ohmigod it's on its last legs." Chill. Some of you people have really weird pereceptions of what "last legs" means. If a show like Grey Gardens that's looking at 60-70 percentages is on its "last legs," what on earth do you call something in the 40s?
Raúl's not doing Young Frankenstein. And call me unsupportive, but I'm pleased.
I guess the fact that Legally Blonde is about to close explains why I found it so difficult to find orchestra seats when I tried to buy tickets recently.
Everyone must be rushing to get a chance to see it before it's gone.

Glad to hear that Company's safe. :)
