Reports from colleagues and friends are saying the legendary Ann Reinking has passed and (for what its worth) her Wikipedia page notes this now, too.
Rest In Peace. There will never be another like you...
Just saw a friend post about this on Facebook. So sorry to hear this. Her legacy lives on. What an incredible talent.
heartbreaking......... it was an honor watching her move.
rest in peace
Absolutely devastating news. Truly a one of a kind talent.
I'm heartbroken. Such an icon and a legend. One of the most legendary dancers to ever grace a Broadway stage.
So shocking! Terrible loss. I took her dance class at Steps years ago and talked to her a little in the locker room. What a shame. She was a beautiful dancer.
Confirmed by Variety. She was only 71.

Devastating news. She and Gwen both died too young.
RIP legend.
I also saw her in Sweet Charity on Broadway. Always so gorgeous and the best dancer I’ve ever seen. May she Rest In Peace.
I wish the All That Jazz film was on iTunes right about now. Rest in peace.

So unexpected. And so sad...after I logged in,the site returned to the front page and they had just changed it to this announcement. I have a friend who is from NYC,who was an aspiring dancer, and Ann was one of her idols. Such an amazing dancer and one of a kind.

Horribly sad news on what was to be a great day for the USA...(trump lost)...i got to see Ms. Reinking, when the brilliant revival of CHICAGO toured Los Angeles...and of course LOVED her in the brilliant movie ALL THE JAZZ...2020 sucks in so many sad ways!!
So shocking and sad to learn of...my god 2020 has been tough. RIP Ms Reinking...tell Fosse we miss him!

I don't know who was in the show on March 12th, but the best tribute the Weisslers could give her is to have a Roxie who can do the full choreography if/when Chicago resumes performances.
I remember watching those CHICAGO videos where they were casting a new Roxie Hart and thinking how amazing Ann looked. I thought it was fantastic that she was still so actively involved with the show and showed great amount of class to the performers who didn’t win. She passed far too young.

I hope the Nederlanders light up the Richard Rodgers in honor of her.
According to the family’s statement, she was in the state of Washington to see her brother. She went to sleep and never woke up...what a tremendous loss.
This is sad and shocking news. She was only 71 and not reported to be ill. I remember being a struggling actor in NYC in the late '70s and early '80s. She did 'Dancin' on Broadway, then 'All That Jazz' for Bob Fosse, then the movie 'Annie'. She just seemed to be everywhere showbiz and Broadway intersected. I've heard from people that she was also a gracious and generous person who spent much time with up-and-coming dancers, and was full of life. She was a definite icon of Broadway and musical theater who will be mourned and missed. RIP, Dear.
I just watched the Merry Murderesses episode of Stars in the House last night and everyone on there spoke so highly and lovingly of her. What a devastating loss. A true legend.

Dammit, the loss of another one of my personal icons in a 2 week period (the first being Pamela Tiffin on December 2nd - - - my avatar is in her honor).
I was introduced to the magic and talent of Miss Ann Reinking via the 1982 film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, "Annie". I saw her on that big screen with those legs that seemed to go on forever, dancing up a storm and I was in awe! I was obsessed! I made it my business to find out who she was, where she came from, and what she had done up to that point and from there on I was a devoted fan. What an amazingly beautiful, talented woman. She had the whole package. I would watch the "We Got Annie" musical number on a loop and never, ever got tired of it. She was one-of-a-kind! My heart is broken, but she will live on through her work and she will never, ever be forgotten! Fly high and dance your heart out in paradise. You will be missed.
