I think Platt's potential ceiling for a recording career is Idina Menzel, who has one Top 10 billboard with Let it Be. Every other single of hers that's charted is also from Frozen movies, except for one Glee song.
It's unlikely he's ever going to have a Billboard hit with an original song from one of his albums. If he ever has a Top 40 hit, it's going to be movie musical or showtune related. For example, the Hamilton/Dear Evan Hansen mashup "Found / Tonight" with Lin-Manuel Miranda peaked at #49 in 2018.

But it’s widely speculated she’s been pregnant this year up to this point, soprobably fell through for that reason. It was Lady Gaga. Which would have just been an EVENT. And they still aren’treallygiving a lot of fanfare around Ben being a grand reopening, so wonder if there’s a possibility another artist has something lined up this summer before Tammy."
Gaga isn't pregnant! She's literally doing her Vegas residency next month! Literally just announced her new album."
love, you don’t need to tell me that lol. All I said is it was her, that it’s been *speculated* (it has) and that may be the reason she didn’t end up doing it. Get a grip.
Telling the media "the residency is not open to reviews" is a red flag that someone's skin is too thin or there are concerns about the quality of the product. I mean, who does that other than someone with fears of being called out.

I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, but I don’t think he’s going for top-of-the-charts. If he was, he’d be putting out more commercial material. Deciding to come out with what is essentially a 60’s/70’s-style folk album is most likely not going to produce a #1 Billboard hit, and I think he knows that. (Personally, I think the album is lovely and includes some of his best work.) I think he’s happy making the kind of music that is meaningful to him. If you’re a fan, you’ll go with him on the ride. If you’re not, it wouldn’t matter anyway.
I meeeaannn......... Thanks? He could've said that a year ago and it might've meant more but now it just feels like he's trying to save face. At least he's commented on it now though so that's a start.
Oof, looking at the ticket availability for this is actually painful. I mean I literally can't imagine who would want to see this guy in concert, and I would never buy a ticket myself. But still, it's hard not to feel for anyone playing to audiences as sparse as this.
Alexander Lamar said: "Does the Palace have the same capacity as it did pre-renovation? Wondering if the took the opportunity to make the seats a bit wider at all."
"The Palace now has 1,648 seats, down from 1,740 in 2018 and 1,800 in 1913. The seats are wider, and there is more legroom. The Palace is also more accessible, with additional wheelchair locations, and an elevator to all floors."

That doesn’t necessarily stop a publication or independent journalist from dropping $49 for a cheap balcony ticket and writing something. Probably just means they aren’t sending out press tickets.
Also, based on Instagram hints from a friend of mine, the special guest tonight is Kristin Chenoweth

WHY DO YOU EVEN CARE? Nothing else to whine about. There are a number of nepo baby success stories and probably a lot more that are not. Who really gives a flying -buck!!

I’m sure your heart genuinely bleeds for him. 🙄. I’ve never come across so many people who dislike an entertainer so much, yet continuously monitor their ticket sales, watch their videos, and are quick to post in every thread about them. My God, this level of jealousy and envy must be a real bitch to bear. It’s hard not to feel for them.
Has anyone actually seen the concert? I'm curious how he engages the audience and if his banter between songs comes across as relaxed and natural or more scripted and rehearsed. As a talented and two-time Tony Award winning theater actor, he ticks all the boxes that most people want from Broadway performers. It's a shame that his offscreen persona overshadows this.

Excuse me. Lea Michele and Beanie Feldstein would like to have a word with you.
f you look at the DEH threads here in BWW from 2015-2017, people were vying for tickets to see Ben Platt perform as Evan! I recall he did a 54below stint in 2017 and it quickly sold out. The only complaints I recall were that he only did stage door once a week, if at all.
I've gone to his concerts at Radio City and MSG and had a great time! If you have Netflix you can watch his Radio City concert to see how he engages the audience with his personal stories.

🙄 You’re in desperate need of new material.
Honey, me desperate?? I ain’t sitting on here all day defending a guy who wouldn’t know you if you slapped him across the face and probably wouldn’t throw water on you if you were on fire. Go back to your fantasy love affair with the nepo baby.

Sweetie, no. You’re just sitting on here all night being snarky, following and commented on threads about a performer you don’t like and want to see fail. I believe that’s the very definition of desperate. And I wouldn’t expect him to know who I am. What a ridiculous statement. I never suggested even once that I knew him personally. I just think he’s incredibly talented, and I enjoyed meeting him. But, alas, he’s not my type… and I’m happily married.
