So children of stars like Ben Platt or Kate Hudson for example get a break because of famous or influential parents. While they make get that break, they still need to have talent and produce otherwise those breaks will quickly disappear.
Let me give you sport example. Lebron James has a son (Bronny) who played one year of college basketball (USC) and really was not very good. Bronny decided to enter the NBA draft in 2024 and there is talk about teams selecting him. He was invited to NBA combine to showcase his talent for NBA teams even though his talent did not warrant him getting invitation. It is believed that even though Bronny is not good enough he may get selected by team hoping his father would join the same team to play with his son.

Well, that just speaks about quality of the movies she was in...Honestly, a boiled potato can act better than Dakota Johnson. Maybe she can be a special guest at Ben Platt's concert! 💡

Thread highjack -- Lol, I know, right? To me, Dakota Johnson sucks the life out of everything she touches, but to each his own. -- End thread highjack

Platt and Leslie Odom Jr did a duet of Sound of Silence and it sounds heavenly!! Check out the clip on Platts Instagram.
Heard Micaela Diamond and Kelly Clarkson will also be guests but don't know when?
Kristin would’ve been a more appropriate act to reopen the Palace. It’s kind of embarrassing when the guest stars are on an entirely different level han the headliner. It’s like getting a cheese plate for dinner and a steak for dessert!

If only Kristin’s dad was also billionaire producer Marc Platt ;)

It's a shame there was no advertisement for some of these top notch special guests. I'd definitely run not walked to see Kasey Musgrave and Leslie Odom Jr from a balcony seat. Fan of them both.

How long is the concert? Will I have time to get to the Perelman Center for an 8 PM Cats after the 5 PM BP performance?
When I asked the ushers they told me roughly 90-100 mins but note it will take some time to exit the venue if you choose to stay for the encore performance. To my knowledge the only way to exit is through the lobby and that one escalator.
I went to last night's 730pm performance and recall checking the time after exiting the Palace theater and it was 9:30pm.
I think you'll have enough time to make it downtown by subway.

I know he inspired the album and all, but I’d be disappointed if I went tonight and the only guest was Noah Galvin. After Kacey Musgraves, Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Odom Jr? Makes me really think Beanie might be one too.
There is only 1 guest. When I went, Ben pretty much said this whole residency/tour is dedicated to Noah so if Noah is the guest, I think that would be extra special.
I don't know who the other guests will be but I wouldn't be surprised if they're all folks he worked with in the past or friends of his through the years in the industry.
How many songs do the guests do? Just one duet?

Can you imagine spending hundreds of dollars on tickets, hauling it to NY to see this thing and, instead of Odom, you get Noah?
That Platt thinks we’re as interested in his love life as he is only serves to underscore his detachment from reality.

It takes a certain level of delusion to think that people want to see you and your boyfriend sing a Beyonce/Miley duet that the original artists haven’t even performed live. God it’s horrible.
God, he is truly unbearable. This entire residency is just a huge vanity project of the highest degree.

So what you're saying is that the relationship isn't gonna go well either?

Thanks for the encouragement! Just bought my tix and that completes my 3-show Saturday: Enemy of the People, BP, and Cats: The Jellicle Ball. Used to do these hat tricks frequently when 7 and 10 curtain times off Broadway were common but it's been a while.
If it helps ease your mind, it's a straight shot down to the Perelman from the Palace on the R train. If the trains are running as they should be (and that is a big "if" these days), it should take no more than a half hour to get down there.

Why some major artists are canceling shows, and in some cases entire tours

Please, name a solo artist residency that isn’t a vanity project.

Most of them aren't. Most in Vegas ( where the bulk of the so called residencies occur) are financed by the venues or producers who make a offer or invite to the artist. Talking about a residency. A term he was so eager to use. And a residency implies a performing home. Is he going to be back every few months to the Palace? NO. He was just being a show off and trying to sound like Cher. ( and that is just my bitchy opinion ). He is very talented. I hope his fans are enjoying his run.

I guess the rules against attacking performers are being selectively enforced again.
I will never understand the level of boredom or delusion or whatever you want to call it that drives anyone to seek out threads here about people or shows they don't like with the express purposes of being vitriolic. Read a book. Go to a movie. Talk about something you actually enjoy. It's exhausting to read your troll posts when we're trying to get reviews, suggestions, and information
